Itinerary
The Accademia Gallery (Galleria dell'Accademia) in Florence, Italy, is renowned for its collection of Renaissance art, particularly sculptures. Here are some highlights from the Accademia Museum and other notable Renaissance artworks in Florence that our guests will see. David by Michelangelo: The centerpiece of the Accademia Gallery is Michelangelo's iconic sculpture of David. This towering marble masterpiece is considered one of the greatest sculptures ever created and is admired for its technical brilliance and expressive power. Prisoners (or Slaves) by Michelangelo: Another highlight of the Accademia's collection is Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures known as the Prisoners or Slaves. These sculptures showcase Michelangelo's skill in revealing figures emerging from the stone, capturing a sense of movement and vitality. The Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna: Located in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Piazza della Signoria,
Piazza Della Repubblica is one of the main squares in Florence, Italy. It's located in the heart of the historic center and holds significant historical and cultural importance. Originally, it was the site of the Roman Forum, and later, during the medieval period, it became the city's Jewish ghetto. Today, Piazza Della Repubblica is a bustling square surrounded by cafes, restaurants, shops, and historic buildings. One of its prominent landmarks is the Arcone, a triumphal arch commemorating the city's incorporation into the Kingdom of Italy in the 19th century
The tour will finish at the Piazza della Signoria, another iconic square in Florence, Italy, located near the Arno River. It has been the political and social center of the city throughout its history and is surrounded by several notable buildings and statues. Here are some highlights of Piazza della Signoria: Palazzo Vecchio: This medieval fortress-palace is the focal point of the square. It has served as the seat of Florentine government for centuries and now functions as the town hall. The palace is adorned with impressive Renaissance artwork and sculptures, including works by Michelangelo and Donatello. Fountain of Neptune: Situated at the southern end of the square, this fountain features a large marble statue of Neptune surrounded by various sea creatures and mythological figures. It was sculpted in the 16th century by Bartolomeo Ammannati. Statue of David Replica: A replica of Michelangelo's famous statue of David stands in the Piazza della Signoria.

what a tour in Florence
Our Florence tour was a journey into the heart of the Italian Renaissance, beginning at the incredible Accademia Gallery. The museum’s highlights are Michelangelo's sculptures, particularly the "Slaves" and, of course, the iconic "David." The "Slaves" series is mesmerizing and "David" stands was truly breathtaking. Towering at 17 feet, his every muscle and vein is meticulously carved, embodying both youthful strength and a contemplative determination. Afterward, our tour continued with a guided walk through Florence’s historic city center, steeped in the legacy of the Medici family. As we passed the impressive Palazzo Medici Riccardi, we learned how this powerful family wasn’t just politically influential—they were the driving force behind the Italian Renaissance, patronizing artists like Michelangelo, Botticelli, and da Vinci. Their investments in art, architecture, and culture shaped Florence into a beacon of innovation and creativity. Our Florence tour with Antonio was exceptional! Antonio's passion for art and history brought every moment to life. His deep knowledge of Michelangelo’s works and stories about the Medici family and their impact on the Renaissance made the history vivid and engaging. Friendly, insightful, and captivating, Antonio truly made the tour unforgettable. Highly recommended!
Truly Amazing Guide
Our local guide Antonio was truly outstanding. We learnt and saw so much and had great fun too. I would highly recommend.
Florentine Renassance at its best
I booked a city trip to Florence because it was long time since I visited this city and I wanted to see something I hadn't seen before. I chose this tour because I really wanted to admire the original David. I met Antonio, the local guide, who immediately made me feel very welcome and was able to transmit his enthusiasm for the beauty of the Florentine Renaissance. The Accademia was amazing and it was great to have already pre-booked tickets, since queues are massive! We also enjoyed beautiful parts of the city centre such as Piazza della Repubblica (full of Cafes and shops) and Piazza della Signoria (with the amazing Palazzo Vecchio and also the copy of the David...but seeing the original one beforehand was priceless), all enriched by Antonio's extended knowledge of architecture and history. 3 hours well spent, I absolutely recommend it!
See Michelangelo's David
This is a very interesting and informative tour. I highly recommend this activity to anyone who would like to visit the Accademia Gallery and benefit from skipping long waiting to get inside. Our tour guide, Antonio, knows Florence so well, and his knowledge added so much to the whole experience.
