Traveler reviews
Overall good experience but hampered by the tour operator's logistical and planning issues
In retrospect, the tour was a wonderful experience. However, it was a much longer day due to traffic and an unforeseen drawbridge incident (the drawbridge would not open) causing at least an hour added onto the boat tour. Initially that was fine since the operators kept us updated on the situation and kept music going. Also the unexpected night cruise was nice. On the other hand, our city tour was delayed by at least an hour. The tour operator left a crowd of 50 people standing outside their location without coming out and proactively updating us. We only heard of the bus being stuck in traffic from a passenger who had left the bus and ubered back to the location. When I went into the location and asked the status of the late bus, the employees were nonchalant and made sure to remind me there was no refund. Since this tour was on a Sunday in Miami, I find it hard to believe traffic was unforeseen and I think a backup plan should have been in place. The operator did redeem themselves by ensuring a bus was available at the end of our extended cruise. The boat operator was proactive in communicating with the bus tour operator. Finally, the narration of the "city" tour was unintelligible. The speaker system on top of the double decker was terrible. In addition, the "guide" did not provide any history or other narration along the route. Given the rich history of Miami, that was disappointing. Also, the area of the city covered was very limited. The tour could have been much more engaging. Having taken similar tours in other cities, this one was not up to par. If I were doing this again, I would schedule each experience separately rather than accept the operator's plan. The 13 hour day was OK for 2 adults but would have been miserable with kids.
