Mekong Delta 2-Day Floating Market Tour

Our guide An was wonderful! He was very informative and so friendly. The trip was well organised and ran smoothly. There was 6 of us in the group which meant we could have the sampans to ourselves on the river. The market in Cai Rang is amazing and well worth the car journey down. Hotel room in Fortuneland is clean and the breakfast buffet lovely. Thoroughly recommend this trip.

The many visits along the way were genuinely interesting and the visit to the Mekong River and floating market at Cai Rang were real highlights. When I planned this trip, I was debating whether we should go on a 1-day trip or 2-day overnight trip to Mekong Delta. We had no regret that we chose the overnight trip, because we got to see a lot more things and places in a relaxed pace. Also because it’s low season, we are the only people in the group, so it’s like a private tour! (Two of is, with one tour guide and one driver.) Our tour guide Tyler is great. We chat a lot not only the typical tourist points, but also his life in Vietnam, which gave us a better idea of how local people’s lives are. On the first day, Tyler and driver picked us up at 7:30am at our hotel in District 1, with Toyota SUV. It took about 1.5 hours to get to our first stop, chocolate factory. They showed us the cacao trees, how they process the chocolate-making. Then we went to Cal Be and got on a boat to get to boat vendor/hawker who sells all kinds of tropical fruits (dragon fruit, jack fruit, pineapple, coconut, water apple, mango, etc). We went on to a coconut candy factory and bee farm. Lunch is included in the tour fee. We sat upstairs in a tropical bamboo house by the river, with great view and vibe. Lunch was amazing with grilled fish, rice rolls, etc. After lunch, we drove to Can Tho which is the largest city in Mekong Delta region, where we spent the night. The hotel we stayed is Nesta Hotel. Even though it’s rated 4 star, it’s more equivalent to 2 star in American standard. It’s located by the river, so our room has a nice view. Also, it’s located 3 minutes from the night market. The next morning our guide and driver picked us up at 7:30am. We boarded a boat and rode to the Cai Rang Floating Market. Because it was raining, not as many vendors/hawkers were out there. The boat driver drove us around to see the different boats, and the fruits they sold. Then we went to a rice noodle factory and a fruit farm. We also went to a wet market to buy some vegetables to be added to our lunch. Lunch was at a rest stop. We had spring roll, noodle soup, fried ball with sticky rice, grilled fish, grilled pork in a stick. After lunch, we drove 1.5 hours to visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda. After that, we drove 1.5 hours back to Saigon. Overall this is a great trip, we had a great time. We highly recommend this rather than just a rushed day trip!

We had a great trip to the Mekong Delta and the places we visited did not have a lot of tourists around durring this time of year the time of the year. Everything was well organised and we didn‘t have to worry about anything. Our tourguide Lana was very sweet and helpful. She provided us with lots of useful information and giuded us perfectly.
