Mixed feelings – Disappointed by missed highlights
While the flight itself was technically fine—we managed to see several islands and many beautiful spots around Maui—I left the experience feeling quite disappointed. Two of what were supposed to be the biggest highlights of the trip for us were completely missed. First, we didn't get to see the Molokai cliffs at all, which was one of the main reasons we booked this specific tour. Second, despite the description explicitly stating that there would be an opportunity to take the controls and fly the plane for a moment, this never happened. These two aspects were the things we were looking forward to the most. I know they are usually part of the experience because I saw numerous reviews and photos from other participants who got to enjoy both. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of what was advertised. It was a decent flight for sightseeing Maui, but it definitely lacked the core elements we actually paid for.
A must do!
This was an amazing experience! We did this instead of a helicopter. It was our last day in Maui, and none of the helicopter companies had other people going. So they couldn't promise us we could go up. However, we then discovered Maui Plane Rides, and I'm so glad we did! Not only were they able to get us in last minute, it was more intimate. It's just you and your party... No strangers. The flight was smooth, amazingly scenic, and informative. We saw sights we would have never seen from the ground, especially on Malokai! The cliffs and waterfalls were breathtaking! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience! Do yourself a favor, and book this incredibly memorable experience.
