Full description

Get ready to take a deep dive into two of Madrid’s most legendary locations on this Prado Museum and Botín tour. Your guide—an expert in art, history, and food—will bring the essential paintings to life on a carefully curated Prado tour so you don’t have to worry about navigating the 7,000+ pieces of art on your own. After a guided cultural stroll through the Literary Quarter and Historic Center, your small group will head to Botín, the oldest restaurant in the world, for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour before settling in for a three-course lunch featuring their specialty, suckling pig.
In one very exciting morning, you'll walk the most storied museum halls and cobblestone streets of Madrid on the only tour to combine a visit to the Prado Museum with lunch at the oldest restaurant in the world, Botín. And there’s no more fitting spot to meet than right in front of Francisco Goya’s statue outside the Prado! Before skipping the line to access Spain’s greatest art collection on your Prado tour, your expert guide will set the scene for the dramatic stories you’re about to hear.

And into the museum you go! Your 1.5-hour Prado tour will cover 15–20 masterpieces that highlight Spain’s rich past, including Las Meninas. Discover the characters and events that inspired this work of art, and let your guide surprise you with stories that reveal the minds behind the paintings. From Velazquez and Goya to Bosch and Titian, your expert guide will give you a firm footing to appreciate and understand each painting. At the end of your Prado tour, you'll have a 30-minute break to check out the gift shop or grab a snack in the cafe.

Next up, it's time for a stroll through the picturesque Literary Quarter, known as the onetime stomping grounds of many of Spain’s literary greats. You'll walk down the cobblestone streets right into Plaza Mayor. This bustling square is bursting with history, which your guide will share as you pause to admire and soak in all the activity around you.

Finally, it’s time to head to the world’s oldest restaurant—Sobrino de Botín—for a three-course Spanish feast. Wave goodbye to the crowds outside as you’re invited in before opening to explore the empty restaurant. On a special VIP Botin tour, your guide will give you an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at this record-breaking eatery. Step into the kitchen and hidden underground tunnels before sitting down for a three-course meal in the historic dining room.

The star of lunch is the roasted suckling pig, still made in Botín’s original 300-year-old ovens, served with market-fresh vegetables and followed by dessert. All of this, of course, is washed down with plenty of Rioja red wine. As a plus, this intimate meal is the perfect moment to get expert answers to all your burning Madrid questions from your guide.

We’ll part ways after lunch, having crossed two Madrid essentials off your must-see list in just one morning. Where most tourists barely scratch the surface, you’ll know how these two icons fit into Madrid’s larger story.
