Full description

Step into the world of flamenco on this tour combining two cornerstones of Spanish culture: tapas and a live one-hour flamenco show. First, go behind the scenes and visit some of the artisans who bring flamenco shows to life with colorful costumes and more. Then, it's showtime! Soak in the passion of an authentic flamenco performance with a tapa and drink. After the show, head to a family-owned shop for tapas as you talk about the moving performance between bites and learn the tricks to doing tapas like a local.
Unravel the secrets of Spanish flamenco and doing tapas like a local through historic Madrid.

Flamenco and tapas: two of Spain’s most quintessential—and most misunderstood—cultural icons. Dig deeper into both as you spend an evening getting a true taste of Madrid through its food, music, and dance!

You’ll begin your evening at an authentic flamenco shop open for more than 80 years that's full of the colors and textures that make the art form what it is. Meet the artisans who's craft keeps the proud flamenco traditions alive, and get a close-up look at the array of dresses, shoes and castanets before seeing them live on stage.

Then we'll hit the streets in the oldest part of the city to discover two more facets of flamenco before heading off to see a show at one of the best flamenco venues, or tablaos, in the city. You’ll settle in for an hour-long live show full of the spectacle that have transformed flamenco into a global icon. As you marvel at the performance and enjoy another tapa and drink, you’ll find that the background information you’ve picked up throughout the evening will give you a deeper appreciation for what’s unfolding onstage.

After the show, it's time for more tapas! You'll sit down in a local shop owned by two brothers that specializes in Iberian ham, one of Spain's iconic plates. You'll discover how its made and how to master ham cutters achieve the ultra thin slices. As you nibble on four tapas and sip some excellent wine, you’ll get an introduction into exactly what it means to “do” tapas in Spain so you'll feel more comfortable navigating Madrid's tapas bars during the rest of your trip. And you'll reflect on the lively flamenco performance and be able to ask your guide more questions.

While most visitors to Madrid experience flamenco and tapas without any prior background, you’ll walk away at the end of the evening with a deeper knowledge—and fuller appreciation—of both.
