Itinerary
When visiting Karnak, you are paying a visit to the heart of Egypt during the New Kingdom. This huge temple complex was the center of the ancient faith while power was concentrated at Thebes (modern day Luxor) and its significance is reflected in its enormous size. In addition to its religious significance, it also served as a treasury, administrative center, and palace for the New Kingdom pharaohs. It is considered as the largest temple complex ever constructed anywhere in the world. It developed over a period of 1500 years, added to by generation after generation of pharaohs and resulting in a collection of temples, sanctuaries, pylons, and other decorations that is unparalleled throughout Egypt.
This temple might be the greatest testament to why Luxor has earned its nickname, “The World’s Largest Outdoor Museum”. Luxor Temple is located in the modern city of Luxor, which is built on the site of the ancient Egyptian capital of Thebes. The temple is one of the best-preserved of all of the ancient monuments with large amounts of structure, statuary and relief carvings still intact, making it one of the most impressive visits in the Luxor area and all of Egypt, adding significantly to its allure is the juxtaposition that its setting provides. The modern city begins on one side and the Nile drifts by on the other. There are few places in Egypt where one is put so immediately and clearly in touch with the extraordinary length of Egypt’s history.

Traveler reviews
Good experience
In 3 friends, we took a trip to Egypt from 1 to 8 February 26, Cruise + Cairo. Initially we asked for a quote from two local operators, the World Travel and the Memphis Tour. We chose the World Travel but then, when we arrived in Egypt, the services were provided by Memphis Tours and Safari Tour. Basically they are 3 Operators who all belong to the same property. The trip went very well and the services were all on time. Just a couple of downsides: the guides are not all of the same standard. Some very good, the one we had on the cruise unfortunately not valid. Pay attention to the extra program excursions, sold at a rather high price compared to the validity (Villaggio Nubiano, € 45.00 for 2 hours of super-tourist walk). In Cairo we asked to do half a day at the Saladin Citadel without lunch and they asked us € 65.00 per person (on GetYourGuide they sell it for € 30.00). We were sorry to refuse and worked it out ourselves. However overall 4 stars.
Watch out, scam!
The company conned me, when I arrived I had to pay for my tour again and the treatment of the employees was that of criminals.
Amazing experience on the Nile.
My family and I made a wonderful trip for four days along the banks of the Nile, where we were able to soak in amazing views and visit the temples, for which we were accompanied by Guide Juan (Yehia El-Gizawy), who made everything very interesting and we had a great time. A great Guide who conveys his passion for his country.
Great experiences in Luxor East Bank
We visited 4 sites, 2 sites extra as we requested. Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Mummification Museum, Luxor Museum. All great places and we enjoyed the tour. Our guide Marwa was very friendly, patient and warm. Definitely recommend it!
Awesome experience
We did this the day after the West Bank, both tours with Memphis and the same guide and driver. Really looked after us and tailored the tour to what we wanted. Our guide Beshoy was very experienced and knowledgable while allowing us plenty of free time to just enjoy the experience too. Door to door transport in a comfortable car felt very safe. Karnak and Luxor temples of course are a must if you are here and completely live up to expectations. A lot has been reconstructed using all the original material that was buried and done in a very sympathetic way, to show the full awe of the locations without looking like a remodel. Breathtaking really. Memphis tours as always are brilliant to use and would very much recommend them and their guides
