Pass by: Admire a free-standing campanile that is part of the complex of buildings that make up Florence Cathedral. The unusual position of the bell tower, aligned with the facade, reflects the desire to give it great importance as a sign of strong verticality at the center of the Insula Episcopalis, as well as probably the practical need to free the view of the apse area for the large dome, foreseen since Arnolfian project. Giotto provided an original design for the bell tower, with a pyramidal cusp termination 50 Florentine arms high (about 40 metres), according to which the total elevation should have been approximately 120-125 metres. A drawing preserved in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Siena is considered by some scholars to be inspired by this project.

Traveler reviews
Phenomenal
Phenomenal, especially Alessandro, very competent and kind. Quick and efficient, we will travel with Viator again.
Easy shuttle to Florence and back
The bus left 40 minutes late- we were told to be early for a 9:45 start time and did not leave Livorno until 10:25. Other than that, the shuttle was an easy way to get to Florence and back!
Florence- Mattia
Mattia was very helpful and Florence was great. The Uffizi Museum is overwhelming, make sure you get tickets in advance for all the places you want to visit
First time in Florence
Well organised and on time. Clear instructions provided by tour leader, Larenzo. Driver Lucca was excellent.
Careful , very unreliable organizer!
Actually zero stars , because no service was provided .Three days before the organizer wrote us, he can not carry out the excursion . We should cancel the tickets on our own initiative. We had booked three months before , everything was confirmed and paid for . We find this very unprofessional. At such short notice we could not book anything else and took a taxi for expensive money to see anything at all from Florence. We can only advise against the organizer .
