The Kokoro cafe is such a great addition to these special and beautiful gardens. The best coffee and best view in Tramore. Can't wait for my next visit or just a pit stop for caffeine!

Fantastic visit to the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens in Tramore and were genuinely impressed from start to finish. The gardens are absolutely fabulous and much bigger than you might expect, with a really impressive layout and lovely trail-like walks winding throughout the different areas. There are plenty of seating areas along the way, so you can take your time, sit back and enjoy the surroundings. Every part of the gardens seems to have something interesting to discover, and the attention to detail is excellent. The tour is very informative, but even if you don't have a guide, you won't miss out. The trees, statues, gardens and other features have plaques explaining their history and meaning, which really adds to the experience and gives you a much better appreciation of what you're seeing. We also loved the new café. It was the perfect way to finish the visit, sitting down with a lovely cup of tea and some cake. There was a great choice available, so there was something to suit everyone. Overall, a beautiful, peaceful and fascinating place to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend the Japanese Gardens to anyone visiting Tramore or the Waterford area. A real gem!

Many people have said what a gem this place is. It is small & compact but this is a lovely place to spend time in. It's well worth reading all the guiding notes as the history is fascinating. To see the Victorian garden still in bloom (it is July and heat wave time!) was wonderful - so many nemesias and salvias. Highly recommended

This really is the most magical place, with a fascinating history. There is even an "Explore and find" sheet for the small people. My granddaughter had a whale of a time finding all the items on the card and ticking them off. The gardens are magnificent and well laid out. The paths are gravel so shoes/sneakers recommended. Lovely cafe on site and great value for something sweet and a coffee. Bathroom is spotless. We went early so it was very quiet and cool. Admission was €8 per adult and €4 per child, which I thought was great value, you could spend all day there if you wanted. The staff were wonderful, there was a great lady in the Courtyard on the way in who told us the story of Lafcadio Hearn so we had the back ground to the garden. We also had a guide sheet. It's actually hard to believe you are in the middle of Tramore until you look out over it from the deck at the back of the cafe. The only downside is parking, unfortunately it is on street only as there doesn't appear to designated parking for it. So go early to get a parking space. But, on street parking is free.

Beautiful garden we loved it but we were gutted there was a wedding there so we didn't get to see the main part and still had to pay full price even though we missed half of the garden we were told to avoid were the wedding was so not sure we will return.
