Unforgettable bay with rough staff
The bioluminescent bay itself was incredible—easily one of the most vivid natural sights I’ve experienced. Visiting near a new moon made the water glow even brighter, and the actual time on the water felt magical. The reason I’m giving this experience three stars instead of five comes down entirely to the staff. We arrived in La Parguera a few hours early to explore, shop, and grab a drink before our scheduled 8:15 PM tour. Around 7:30, I stopped by the counter just to let them know we were nearby. Instead of a quick acknowledgment, the guide immediately tried to get us on the boat right then. We weren’t ready—we still wanted to look around town—and we had booked the 8:15 slot for a reason. When we declined to board early, the guide became visibly annoyed and argued that it was their last tour of the night and they wanted to leave sooner. I explained, calmly, that we planned around the time we paid for and would be boarding at 8:15, not before. To make the interaction even more uncomfortable, he was watching video reels on his phone at full volume the entire time, the sound blaring from the counter as we talked. It set a tone that was the opposite of welcoming. The bay was unforgettable, but the customer service left a lot to be desired.
Great tour!
Great tour! Everything was well-organized. Company was great about communicating making pickup in San Juan seamless. Israel was an excellent driver. The boat ride was beautiful and bio bay was amazing! Would absolutely recommend this tour!
Bioluminescence
Loved this bioluminescence experience that exists only in 5 places on this earth to my knowledge.
La Pargera bioluminescent bay
This was amazing! It truly lit up when you agitated the water. 5 of the 8 of us got in and said that it was amazing when you were in the midst of them! Pictures do not really capture it. Beware: 2 people on our boat got stung by jelly fish. Rubbing the area down with a baking soda paste is the best thing to neutralize the sting. Would definitely recommend!
Great experience/Un-engaging boat captain
This was an amazing experience. Our family chose the smaller group tour on the smaller boat. The water was warm, bright and beautiful. I would have given this 5 stars if our boat captain had been more engaging…. Or engaged at all with us. He would answer questions when asked but seemed short and irritated and did not care to offer up any information on the area etc. When a few in our group got stung in the water he just shrugged and said “it’s jelly fish”. Jelly fish happen and we know this and everyone is fine but would have been nice of him to explain about it or something… anything… When we pulled back up to the dock he simply said “Good night”…. That was it. We had been on a private boat tour with a different company the previous day and the captain on that boat was kind, knowledgeable and talkative. Perhaps we were expecting the same or perhaps our family is overly talkative. I would do this experience again, perhaps with a different captain or different company.
