As mist gently drifts through the treetops, our visitors gain insights into the geology, ecology, cultural history, and human impact of this area, along with the Sanctuary’s inspiring story of restoration and preservation. My husband and I took some friends with us to the Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary for a sound bath and a guided hike through the cloud forest. This was my second visit to the sanctuary and I enjoyed it just as much the second time as the first time. I highly recommend both experiences. The sound bath is a meditation in the cloud forest to the sounds of gongs, singing bowls, and chimes. It was very relaxing to listen to the musical sounds as well as he bird songs, as we let the stresses of life leave us and immerse ourselves into the natural surroundings. Our guide on the forest hike was excellent. It was obvious that he loved the sanctuary, loved nature, and loved meeting new people. We learned a lot about the forest plants and ecosystem. There was a light rain during the entire hike which added to the ambiance of being in a cloud forest. I highly recommend this experience for both Big Island residents and visitors.

Peaceful Walk through the Cloud Forest Informative experience. Anna was great as she explained the hybrid reforestation. We learned the names of several trees. Loved the beautiful trunks of the Rainbow Eucalyptus. Would like to try the Sound Meditation the next time.
