Way of life and water.

We enjoyed this tour. It was an enlightening experience that took us out of the immediate comfort zone of our hotel and tourist zones of the night markets. Sreyleak was our guide on this afternoon adventure that started with our hotel pickup. He contacted me on WhatsApp in advance to arrange our pickup. It took us about an hour to get the village in an air conditioned van. We got to know about Sreyleak and the different sights as we headed towards our destination. He is very knowledgeable, funny, and kind. Getting to know about the different languages he speaks and hearing him and my wife speak Spanish together was a cool experience for me. We stopped at the Rolous Market where we were able to witness how locals lived. Experiences like this are what make me appreciate humanity. Seeing people selling their goods in the wet market was amazing and interesting to see. It's a different way of life, but it was beautiful to see people living their lives. From there we were taken to Kompong Phluk the "floating" (wet season) village where homes were elevated on stilts. Seeing the local people and even witnessing a wedding ceremony was something that I'll never forget. As we walked through the village Sreyleak provided information about the village, the community, and the history of area. Seeing families, school children, monks, and everything in between made this special because it was even different to the confines of our hotel area. We were then taken to the harbor to take a boat on the Tonle Sap lake to see the sunset. We chose not to stay for sunset because we were so tired from jetlag. Through it all, we enjoyed the experience and the education. Sreyleak and our driver were our first tour in Siem Reap and they provided a wonderful introduction to the Khmer people and the culture. I would definitely suggest this tour. Make sure you have water, bug repellent, sun block, and an open mind. Happy birthday Sreyleak.

A must

Great day out. Always lovely to see the locals and their day to day life. The sunset was a disappointing (as there wasn’t 1) but that was due to the weather conditions.

Great excursion

Very nice and interesting excursion. We booked the afternoon tour with sunset. And got lucky with the weather. First we visited an authentic market, then we took the village on stilts and finally a boat tour. From the Sareth guide we learned a lot of interesting things about the country and its people. And our driver, Mr. Chen drove us very safely. This tour is highly recommended.
