Unforgettable Jungle Trek with Ron — Elephants, Spiders & Bamboo Coffee!
If you’re heading to Khao Sok and thinking of doing a jungle trek — stop thinking and book it with Ron. This man is the jungle. He knows every sound, every track, and can spot a tarantula from what I thought was just “a leaf.” We were hoping to see the famous Rafflesia flower, but that part of the park was closed to let it regrow (apparently too many tourists stepped on it — classic). Still, the rest of the trek was absolutely incredible. Before we started, Ron checked our shoes — not for comfort, but to make sure we could run from elephants. Turns out it’s elephant breeding season, and apparently sun cream smells like pheromones. So yes, we basically walked around smelling like elephant Tinder. Ron showed us all kinds of creatures we’d never have noticed: tree spiders, tarantulas, venomous snakes, chameleons, long-tailed and stump-tailed macaques, spectacled langurs, lizards, and loads of birds. The man’s a walking David Attenborough documentary. We also learned that park rangers once built a small coffee station in the jungle, but the elephants didn’t approve and smashed it to bits. Luckily, Ron knew another spot where we could stop for real bamboo coffee — water boiled inside bamboo and served in bamboo cups. Delicious, eco-friendly, and totally wild. After the trek, we went rafting on the Sok River, sitting in chairs tied to bamboo rafts, wearing raincoats in a tropical downpour. Somehow, it was the most peaceful and hilarious experience of the trip. All in all, an amazing day — educational, adventurous, and full of laughs. If you want to actually see the jungle (and survive horny elephants), go with Ron. He’s the best.
An almost perfect day
We were picked up at the hotel very punctually and greeted by Mung. The drive to the park took an hour ,but in the well-equipped van no problem. We were then traveling in a small group of 6 people and it was an eventful , beautiful day. Mung spoke very good English and explained and showed a lot. The bath in the creek was very soothing, because I already sweated a lot while hiking 😂 There was a very good lunch afterwards. The raft ride we found a bit boring, there was pretty much nothing to see, but the coffee or tea with water from the bamboo tube was also a unique experience. We saw monkeys , 2 spiders and a snake during the hike. I was hoping for more, but you're not in it. All in all it was a unique experience and Mung made the day very nice for us. Thank you for that.
Worth in planning to see this great area of Thailand.
Really fun with a lot of adventures to choose from. We really enjoyed to lake and the town. It was interesting seeing the rubber tree groves and, as always, the people are so friendly. A bit of planning to visit but we’ll worth it
Amazing trip
Look no further. This trip is what you need! Jungle Joe is very kind and knows alot. He has a special eye for seeing beautiful animals. Also the water raft is one of a kind and very special. Book this trip and you wont be disappointed.
Great day in the rainforest!
Really good day. ‘Jungle Joe’ took us through the rainforest (about 3K) stopping to show us different wildlife and plants. We then stopped for a swim and cool off. Then walked back and had a short trip for some lunch which was tasty. After, we went for the canoe ride which was great for scenery and very peaceful. On the way back we stopped at a lovely view point before coming back to our hotel. Great guide and perfect for people who want to be a bit active and see the jungle.
