Traveler reviews
Great Trip, Led by a GREAT Guide!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Jordan, including our 3 night excursion to Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba. Our guide, Amer, was very knowledgeable, seemed to know everyone, and was truly an ambassador for the country and its people. Petra was amazing. It did not let down, and is even more impressive in person than in photos, by a lot. Go early (it gets crowded and hot), get a guide, and climb to the monastery if you're physically able. The real highlight of our trip, though, was Wadi Rum. What breathtaking topography; our night glamping was one we'll never forget. Aqaba is a cute little seashore town, if you're into that. Our hotel had a spectacular rooftop deck where we were able to enjoy the sunset ... and left before karaoke started. :-) The accommodations provided were all very nice, with the included breakfasts being very good - although a little uninspired for the vegan in our group (fruit and humus can get old). One unexpected thing to note about visiting Jordan: smoking is widespread and permitted everywhere: indoors, outdoors, the table next to you at a restaurant, bathrooms ... kinda like the '60's in the US. That caught us a little off guard, and the residual odor lingered in our clothing and baggage until we finally got home. But, other than that, we had a great trip and were so glad we did it.
Amazing Tour through Jordan
We booked the 3-Night Private Jordan Golden Triangle : Petra, Wadi Rum, and Aqaba and had the best time. Our driver and guide Khalid was amazing and welcomed us to the country with open arms. We learned a lot about the country, history and people from him. Khalid picked us up from our hotel in Amman and from there drove us to Petra. We stayed at the Petra Boutique Hotel, which is only 3min away from the entrance of Petra. He organised a guide in Petra for us, who was amazing and very knowledgeable about the whole historical site of Petra. Highly recommend getting a tour guide for the site, as otherwise you will miss lots of spots. The Hotel was great, the dinner was amazing, great local dishes. Next day we drove to Wadi Rum. There we has a 4x4 desert tour to get to the camp with a local guide, also very good. At the tour there are a couple of sites you will visit, a sand dune, an arch to climb and you can visit a canyon. We stayed at the Memories Aicha Luxury Camp, Wadi Rum. It looks good (great for Instagram), but there are some parts where it looked untidy, which should not happen in a luxury camp. Out tent was the normal basic one, very comfortable and very cute. The cafe in the camp was amazing. We had lunch here which was very tasty and the staff was great. One of the guys told us to climb up the hill to have a view down to the campo, which was incredible. Great experience, great to see stars and it is inside the Wadi Rum reserve. On day 3 we drove to Aqaba, where we stayed at the Hilton. Great hotel and great location to walk to the beach and to visit local shops. From Aqaba we drove back to Amman on the last day. We can highly recommend the tour. It is perfect to get a first view of Jordan and see the most beautiful sites. Our driver and guide Khalid was amazing and we can only recommend him to everyone. Very knowledgable and great humour and safe driver. We would 100% book another tour with Zaid Tours. The only downer really was dinner at Memories Aicha Luxury Camp and the Hilton at Aqaba. We are foodies and as it was buffet food, it felt more like in a school kitchen rather than from a luxury camp/hotel. I do wish, the hotels would had more food like the Petra Boutique Hotel, where you felt it was cooked for you and tasted more authentic.
