Itinerary
Departing Glasgow at 8:15am, heading along the south shores of the Clyde Estuary.
Venture through the seaports of Greenock and Gourock, then trace the North Ayrshire coast to the charming ferry terminal in Weymss Bay. Experience a refreshing sea breeze as you cross the Firth of Clyde, arriving at Rothesay, the largest town on the Isle of Bute.
Continue your adventure to Mount Stuart, the ancestral seat of the marquesses of Bute. This 19th-century neo-gothic mansion showcases intricate Gothic revival architecture and expansive grounds for exploration. Built in 1877, it was a technological marvel, being the first Scottish home with electricity and an indoor heated swimming pool – a true luxury of its time!
Following a stroll around Mount Stuart, settle back on the bus and unwind as your driver-guide leads you on a picturesque journey along the south side of the island. Fancy a song request? Choose something grand to complement the breathtaking vistas spanning the Firth of Clyde. This is an extraordinary way to experience the Highlands. Your driver-guide will make occasional stops, offering opportunities to sink your toes into the sands of the stunning west coast beaches. Keep a keen eye out for Bute's captivating wildlife, ranging from red squirrels to playful otters.
Return to Rothesay, where the time is now yours to enjoy. Delight in the local cuisine, meander along the promenade, pick up a souvenir, or immerse yourself in the beauty of the castle ruins.
It's time to reboard the ferry. Don't worry about bidding farewell to Bute; she'll always be here, ready to welcome you back. As you head to Glasgow, you'll have your memories, photos, and souvenirs to relish from this memorable visit.

Island Hopping
We've always loved ferry trips so when the chance came up to go to Bute, where we'd never been, we couldn't wait. We drove through to Weymms Bay ferry terminal, boarding was as straightforward as always with the CalMac ferries. 35 minutes later we were on the island, our accommodation was only a three minute drive from the terminal which was handy. We stayed in a first floor flat directly overlooking the ferry terminal, which was superb. Although it rained the full three days we enjoyed our stay. There are some good local sit in places to eat. Next time I'm taking a brolly.
Fantastic Tour
Jimmy was an awesome tour guide. Very informative and polite. He took the time to explain the ferry process and made sure we were all on the same page. Highly recommend this tour. Thanks for the memories, Jimmy! Unforgettable experience with Rabbi Tours. We didn't want to leave the island.
My son and I had the most wonderful day in Bute courtesy of Rabbie's tours. The coach was clean and always on time but the best bit was the driver Stevie. He had great knowledge of the area and his commentary was fascinating and his sense of humour enhanced the experience. Highly recommended!
