Itinerary
Pass by: **Invergordon** is a charming port town located on the Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands. Known for its rich maritime history, it serves as a gateway to the surrounding natural beauty of the Highlands. The town is famous for its murals, which depict local history and culture, and offers a range of activities, from scenic walks along the coast to visits to nearby castles and distilleries. Invergordon is also a popular stop for cruise ships, providing visitors with a peaceful and picturesque introduction to the Highlands' rugged landscapes.
Your guide will meet you at the port, and your Invergordon shore excursion begins. Relax in your vehicle as you drive through the tranquil port city toward historic Cawdor Castle. Dating back to the 14th century, the castle impresses with its fairytale architecture and gardens and is famously linked to Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” Continue to a traditional whisky distillery, where you’ll learn about Scotland’s national drink and enjoy a tasting (note: under-18s may not participate).
Next, travel through the scenic Highlands to the legendary Loch Ness. Enjoy a photo stop on its picturesque shore and keep your camera ready for the best views.
If time allows, visit Inverness, the “Capital of the Highlands,” for some leisure or a quick snack. After an unforgettable day exploring Scotland’s beauty and heritage, return comfortably to Invergordon and your cruise port.

Traveler reviews
Best value and great tour!
We had such a great experience with Neal as our guide. This tour was 100000% worth the value. I don’t know why this had such low stars, it was great if you ask me! We got to see so much, learned a lot about the highlands and the tour was great with timing. I didn’t have high hopes based on what I read but it completely surpassed what I was expecting! Great value for what we did, where we went and what we saw! The cruise offered the same thing for double and triple the price. We brought our 2 kids and they did alright. Favorite part was the castle and the highland cows.
Wheelchair
Friendly guide, interesting and diverse visit. The only downside is that it is mentioned that the excursion is accessible for people in wheelchairs if the wheelchair is foldable. The problem is that the sites visited are not really accessible for wheelchairs. The person in a wheelchair from our group was absent, and it was fortunate because they would not have been able to visit the distillery and the castle.
Invergordon tour thru the coast.
Beautiful trip along the coast. Some intriguing and incredible sights were seen. The visit to the rocks was very interesting.
Long day, mostly a waste of time.
Our tour guide didn’t have much to say throughout the day. He should have given us a lot more information about the local people and culture but instead told us to just enjoy the scenery. The highlight of the trip was going to Loch Ness to try to spot Nessie. We didn’t spot the monster but we did just drive by all the Loch Ness souvenir shops. A ten minute stop at the shops would have been appreciated, instead we stopped for ten minutes to look at a couple of highlight cows that could care less we were there. The singleton distillery was informative and took about a hour. The last stop was a castle which was a waste of time.
Not what we paid for
When we arrived at the dock early, no one was there from Your Shore Time, the local tour service. We waited for over an hour in the cold and no one showed up. We went to a different tour company and were told as of that morning Your Shore Time had canceled our tour and booked with them, which was a different tour than what we paid for, WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE THE DISTILLERY WHICH WAS THE REASOB WE SELECTED THIS TOUR. The tour was not good and took us to two small towns and dropped us off when there was nothing open in the morning drop off and nothing to do. All in all a VERY BAD experience. The tour guide was rude and not very helpful.
