Great
Great trip, Mr Green was a fantastic tour guide. Loved the islands and the food. Only slightly underwhelming thing was the plankton as they don’t really light up the sea as your picture shows but all in all a great day
:)
This was a really worthwhile cruise - we got to snorkel in 2 different locations, with plenty of time to explore Hong island. The crew were friendly, and while the boat was full, it didn’t feel crowded.
Didn't go because was disorganised
Booked this from the UK they arranged a hotel pick up which consisted of a guide turning up at our hotel and walking us around the corner to a table by the roadside.. Then told to wait there till 12.40, which annoyed me because our hotel room was nice and cool and had no traffic fumes and just 2 minutes away which I found odd. 1pm arrived and still no sign of any transport so we decided not to go as was clearly very unorganised and we didn't fancy hours more of the chaos.. So the actual trip we didn't go on even though we will get no refund so can't comment on that, but first impressions are important.
All amazing. Beaches,...
All amazing. Beaches, snorkeling, photos, food... All very professional. The guides Bay and Santana very attentive with everything
Beautiful Sites, Great Staff — But the Tour Should Have Been Cancelled Due to Tides
The trip should have been cancelled. I understand the operator can't change the weather but they knew the tides and currents on their phone as we were shown. And they knew they would render most sites inaccessible. They could have rebooked us for another day. For the record the staff were great, super friendly and accommodating. We stopped at Red Island for snorkeling. They did not let us snorkle because the current was too strong. However there was another catamaran and their clients snorkeling on the spot - which made it awkward. Why do they get to snorkle but we don't? Captain and guide then changed their mind and almost let us go but made the call and we moved on instead. I get the safety, of course, but if it's good enough for other snorkelers. We also heard other groups had a chance to. Next we hit Hong island. It is beautiful and worthwhile. There is a lookout, which he did and enjoyed. Takes 15 mins up and 15 down. And a short tsunami loop that they present as a nature trail through the jungle. Also pleasant and brief. There were meant to be monitor lizards around but nothing we could see. The beach was closed because low tide exposes the corals. So no swimming or snorkeling. This makes sense. I asked to swim in a different area but there's a reason there's designed swimming area, the other spot was riddled with urchins with long spikes. I tried to snorkle a little but it was too sketchy to we stopped. This was not on the operator, they were just trying to be accommodating and I appreciated that. We got on the boat and we're brought to the lagoon - again low tide did not allow access to the lagoon. So we stopped a little off from the entrance and we're told whether we wanted a photo. Can't see much without actually going in which with low tide was impossible. We were shown on their app that they knew this, just decided to run the tour regardless. Next we went to Koh Lao Lading. Even more stunning. And had a genuinely big and tasty lunch with chicken, rice, fruit, etc. Same rules. No snorkeling no swimming because of low tide. Last we went back to our departure point for plankton. That lasted about 10-15 mins in the water and they were few and sparse, though in fairness still visible, but not the 'blue waves" that you might have seen online. It may have to do more with plankton blooms and timing. All that to say, great staff, but the operator knew low tide would close all snorkeling, swimming at beaches and the lagoon from access. I got more wet from the ocean spray and rain than anything else. The sites were stunning and totally worth it. Do yourself a favour and check the tides yourself before booking. But otherwise a great your, if done right.
