Itinerary
Pass by: Depart the city and journey north towards the Highlands, past the magnificent Forth Bridge
We make our first stop in Pitlochry, a picturesque Highland village. Why not treat yourself to a coffee and pastry from one of the local cafes and enjoy a stroll through the charming streets before our journey takes us further north.
We stop in Glenfinnan where we get our first glimpse at the world-famous Viaduct and the stunning Loch Shiel, both recognisable from Harry Potter. Pleas note that stopping at Glenfinnan to view the Viaduct with the bus is subject to availability.
We arrive in Mallaig, the starting point of our Jacobite Steam Train journey. Mallaig is known for being a fishing village, so take the opportunity to sample some fish and chips before the train departs.
Time to board the train! A bucket-list item for many, the Jacobite Steam Train boasts incredible views of Scotland’s natural beauty. Sit back, relax and lose yourself in the Hogwarts experience.
En route back to Edinburgh, we visit Scotland’s most dramatic landscape, Glencoe, which was used as the backdrop for some much-loved scenes in Harry Potter. Your guide will also regale you with the real, heart-breaking history of the glen.

Traveler reviews
Great excursion but be sure to sit on the correct side of the train
Laurie our guide/driver was so much fun. Made a long day very enjoyable. My only issue has nothing to do with her it’s the seats on the train. Everyone paid a lot of money to ride this specific train to travel the famous viaduct. Unfortunately the only people who actually got to see the viaduct were on only one side of the train. All other passengers were left out of the once in a lifetime experience. Very disappointing. I missed something I really wanted to see, experience and record.
Laurie is simply the best
Laurie was the best tour guide. She drives like a Formula 1 driver through the highlands and it paid off because we beat everyone to the viaduct and even had time for a bonus stop to see highland cows. Her history lessons and playlists made the drive educational and entertaining.
Hogwarts Express!!
Laurie was the best tour guide! She provided a bit of history and interesting information. She played some fun songs. And she was amazing in getting us to our destinations quickly! The tour was also really lovely, which allowed us to act like Hogwarts students, riding the Hogwarts Express! I highly recommend this tour!
Great sights / safe driving through country roads. Loved seeing the trestle for Hogwarts as well as the train ride
Our driver / tour guide Lori was fantastic! Her driving skills are amazing and kept us safe while keeping us on time! She gave a thorough explanation and always kept it interesting!
Fantastic tour of highlands
Laurie was an amazing tour guide! The tour ran smoothly and on time, and I appreciated how she explained the tour visits and logistics very clearly (and waited for us on the train platform to make sure we all boarded). I also loved her historical highlights (I learned a lot of historical facts with great humorous additions) and the fantastic playlist. Thanks for a great tour!!
