Perfect mix of boat & kayak!
Our family of 4 adults met at 8am. (Thankfully we checked out the meeting location the day prior and learned we needed to set the GPS to Ella's cafe in Shelter Cove and then look for the Outside kiosk in the parking lot by the water). We checked in and signed waivers and used restrooms. We then were assigned the best boat captain/guide ever-Pippi! After a 45-min boat trip to Page island and using the restroom on the island Pippi gave us life vests and a refresher on kayaking. Both while on the boat and when kayaking Pippi helped us spot dolphins, identify birds, watch pelican flying patterns, pointed out an Osprey nest & eagle nest, helped us find broken shards of pottery up to 9,000 years old, saw oyster mounds, learned about the plouff mud and took photos of us, sharing them later. One highlight was watching the mama & baby dolphin swimming in unison close to our boat. Pippin displayed masterful knowledge of the waterways and we felt completely safe during both activities. She provided chilled water bottles and we knew from prior reviews to bring a snack as we were gone 4 1/2 hours. We appreciated learning about the area, houses and local history. It was surprising to see all the abandoned sail boats that remain anchored in the waterways until they deteriorate enough to be a hazard and can be legally removed. Great, great way to combine two fun activities while visiting Hilton Head Island! Extremely professionally run.
This was an excellent...
This trip was excellent! It’s a fantastic way to see parts of the island you wouldn’t normally get to explore. I especially loved kayaking through the marshlands. Our guide was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and incredibly patient, which made the entire experience unforgettable.
Another great Outside activity!
We had a great trip! Took the half day Outback trip with Captain Gerard Love. He was really knowledgeable about all the wildlife we observed and knew their habits so we had a good idea of where to look and what to expect. This was our third activity with Outside and we’ve enjoyed each one!
Great trip with teens
Captain Hunter did a great job of helping us make memories! We kayaked, hiked and jumped off the dock on Page Island. He brought us home the "outer banks" way and we had a great time! Our teenagers enjoyed this outing a lot!
Highly recommend!
There is a decently long, wonderful boat ride before and after arriving at their private island. If it’s chilly, be sure to dress in layers and have wind protection. There are nice restrooms on the island so you have those available before and after kayaking. Our guide was wonderful! Tim made the trip!
