Traveler reviews
No thrills volcanoes
Total waste of money. A few stops around the rim to see a steam vent. A walk through an unpaved volcanoe tunnel where you can easily break an ankle. The photos of lavav flowing are misleading. There isn't any. Take a half day trip instead and then enjoy the beautiful beaches.
Lava tube is COOL!
Guide / Driver was very good. There is a lot of walking to see the sights. Looking over the edge of the volcano was cool but walking through the lava tube was even cooler!
NOT Recommended
Went on this tour several days after hurricane Lala. Most attractions were closed, tour guide didn't relay this to us. Bus old uncomfortable, poor aircon and an audio system that didn't work for 45mins. I have spoken with viator about this tour but the company (Kamahele tours) believe they delivered. Maybe we just got unlucky. Big waste of $$$$$. Pick another company is my suggestion.
Multiple view of same location
Multiple views of the same area. Best view was the last and could have been the only view. Traveled with handicap parents and wasted a lot of times at locations that they were unable to utilize when the third location suited the entire group. Multiple people on the tour commented that we spent a lot of time getting on and off the bus to see the same thing multiple times. Our driver was knowledgeable but at times was snippy with the patrons and at one point was slightly rude. Overall she was welcoming but the one interaction left a bad taste and was uncomfortable.
Hilo Volcano Tour
