Full description
Rome is full of can’t-miss monuments that have earned a spot on countless travelers’ bucket lists. But the city also boasts plenty more impressive attractions that often remain unnoticed. Join us on a half-day walking and driving tour, where we'll unveil some of our all-time favorites that are hiding in plain sight. Our journey will take us to ancient roads and aqueducts, and into the heart of some of Rome’s most storied neighborhoods—revealing a side of the Eternal City that's seldom seen by visitors.
Start your day in the old Jewish Ghetto, a historic neighborhood nestled between Campo de' Fiori and the Colosseum. While wandering through its streets, discover the fascinating history of Rome's Jewish community throughout the centuries. One of the neighborhood's highlights is the Teatro di Marcello, an open-air amphitheater that serves as an intriguing example of ancient architecture.
From there, we’ll cross Tiber Island to reach Trastevere, one of Rome's most bohemian neighborhoods. It’s here where you'll have the opportunity to indulge in some delicious treats at the city's most beloved cookie bakery. After a brief guided stroll through Trastevere, including a visit to a breathtaking neighborhood church, hop aboard your comfortable private minibus for a scenic drive through the outskirts of the city.
Your first stop on our driving tour is the Park of the Aqueducts, where the city's iconic arched aqueducts stand tall. These ancient structures once carried around 300 million gallons (over a billion liters) of water into Rome each day, powering fountains, baths, and public watering holes that still exist today. While most of the aqueducts are no longer in use, they are still some of the most remarkable engineering feats of the ancient world.
Our exploration continues at Via Latina, a well-preserved Roman road lined with tombs from the first and second centuries A.D. Don't miss the chance to stroll through ancient history at this spectacular site that is often overlooked by other Rome driving tours.
Next, we’ll make our way back into Rome proper, stopping for a quick photo opportunity at Circus Maximus, before heading to an unforgettable viewpoint on Aventine Hill. This stunning vantage point offers sweeping views of the city, including a breathtaking view of St. Peter's Basilica across the river. Finally, board your minibus one last time for the return trip into the heart of Rome.
