Traveler reviews
This wasn’t much of a...
This wasn’t much of a tour but an excellent history lesson. You meet up outside of the gift shop and collect a sticker. You are then taken to their classroom where you get a wonderful lesson in printing and the Hatch itself. Once the class is over you are taken out into the lobby and shown the working from outside where anyone walking the lobby could see. The print you get to make is a small poster that is premade and you only get to add one predetermined item. For the price, it was worth the hour.
Great tour
You will learn about the history of the print shop and its importance to the music world. You will make your own print to take home but it is based on their template, you won’t customize one. The educators are terrific. If you go on a weekday you can observe printers carving, mixing, and printing. And you get 10% off at the gift shop (they’ll ship for you if you do not want to carry your posters home)
Such a fun time for screen print nerds or otherwise curious folks.
This is so worth it if you're interested in screenwriting and/or concert posters. You get to make a souvenir print and you also get a discount in the shop which has SO MANY great pieces.
Great experience; will return again!
This was such a great experience, especially if you are a design nerd. I had seen a few reviews mentioning limits with the printing process; however, when I asked to do a selective inking of the default block, they were totally enthusiastic. You just need to bring a little creativity. :) I attached a photo of my souvenir poster; I inked only the parts of the sign that spelled “HAUNT,” leaving ghost prints of the other letters. It ended up being the perfect keepsake from our Halloween week visit. Huge thanks to Rosa for making the experience so fun; I am already excited to try one of the block parties for a more in-depth letterpress session.
Upper case & lower case! ❤️
They DO make them like they used to. A lovely demo and overview of this famous letterpress shop still in operation. Then chance to roll a third layer on a historical piece of equipment is so fun!
