Hanoi 3 Signature Dishes At Hidden Gem Cafe 1.1 : Begin with egg coffee: A rich, creamy blend of strong Vietnamese coffee topped with a smooth, sweet egg foam. This unique drink, born in the Old Quarter, is a must-try cultural experience that perfectly represents the city’s creativity and charm. 1.2: Try Phở Cuon: One of the city’s top 4 iconic dishes. Unlike traditional pho, these fresh rice noodle rolls are wrapped with beef, herbs, and served with dipping sauce. 1.3: Taste the original Hanoi-style Bánh Mì: Hanoi’s Banh Mi is a must-try street food that perfectly blends Vietnamese flavors with French influence. Crispy baguette, savory meats, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, and chili create a delicious balance of taste and texture.
2. Cultural Walking Adventure Stroll through the Old Quarter’s maze of narrow alleyways and zigzagging streets. Visit a local family home tucked away behind the main streets to glimpse everyday life in Hanoi. This rare behind-the-scenes encounter offers cultural depth beyond the food.
Michelin Guide Street Food Safari: Your culinary journey continues with stops at three Michelin-nominated eateries: 3.1: Bún Chả – Michelin nominated Bún Chả is a must-try dish in Hanoi, featuring grilled pork, fresh rice noodles, herbs, and a tangy dipping sauce. Loved by locals and visitors alike, it’s a flavorful balance of smoky, savory, and fresh tastes—famously enjoyed by President Obama during his Hanoi visit.
3.3: Mien Lươn – Michelin nominated – Hanoi’s Mien Lươn (eel vermicelli) is a Michelin-nominated specialty that every food lover should try. This delicate dish combines crispy or tender freshwater eel with glass noodles, aromatic herbs, and a flavorful broth or dry mix. A true hidden gem, it offers travelers an authentic taste of Hanoi’s rich culinary heritage.
4.2 Local street-side desserts– Indulge in treats like sticky rice yogurt, ice cream, or seasonal specialties.
4.1 Bia Hơi Hanoi – The city’s famous fresh draft beer. Light, crisp, and brewed daily, it’s best enjoyed at tiny street-side stalls with locals. For just a few cents a glass, Bia Hoi offers travelers an authentic taste of Hanoi’s vibrant street culture and social life.

Traveler reviews
Great experience. Thanks John!
We had a great food tour with Doanh (John), he was knowledgeable and funny. He worked really hard to make sure we got to train street as a train was coming (as there were train delays, this was not easy). The food was really tasty and so much of it (make sure you come hungry). Would highly recommend this tour.
Great food tour
Really great tour! Our guide (Jenna) was fantastic - super friendly, enthusiastic and informative. She asked us about our likes / dislikes and what local food we had tried so far, and tailored the tour so that we could try new things. The food was amazing, we were never waiting for long at all and Jenna was really attentive the whole time. We didn’t book a private tour but ended up just two of us which made it a really special experience. Highly recommended!
Magnificent experience, we did the tour with Kaylie, who was very attentive and gave us many explanations about both the food and the culture.
Magnificent experience, we did the tour with Kaylie, who was very attentive and gave us many explanations about both the food and the culture of Vietnam; the food was very delicious, I recommend the tour, but go with an appetite because you eat a lot.
Michelin food Tour 10/10 Jenna 10/10
