Itinerary
The Venice Canal Historic District is embedded in the residential Venice suburb of Los Angeles, California. The historic district is noteworthy for possessing man-made wetland canals, built in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney as part of his Venice of America.
Pass by: An original hangout of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, and other big names in bodybuilding and film, this is still an active outdoor gym on the beach, run by the LA Department of Recreation and Parks.
Take a stroll along the palm tree lined Ocean Front Walk with its beautiful beach views, performers, artists, and vendors. This is a top place to visit in LA, and we will usually make at least one food stop here. This is a great place for photos and picking up souvenirs.
Pass by: Stop by this impressive skate park, and witness a vibrant community of skaters as well as spectators. Venice and Santa Monica are the birthplace of skater culture, and you will be in awe of talented skaters who seem to defy gravity with effortless style.
Many of our food stops are along this popular street, named for Venice’s first real estate developer, and is home to some of the trendiest boutiques, cafes and restaurants in the city.
Erewhon Market is a California-based upscale grocery chain with ten locations, all in Los Angeles County, California, United States.

Fun afternoon
We did the Santa Monica food tour and it was a really fun afternoon. It ended up being just my husband and I on the tour and Cassie made it a great experience. We're locals, but thought it would be a fun way to explore things that we hadn't tried before and it delivered on that - with a Croffle (a croissant waffle) and a Japanese hot dog. Both were really good! There were 6 stops on the tour and it was the perfect amount of food overall. We hadn't done a food tour before, but this made us want to try it again exploring other neighborhoods!
Food culture of Venice Beach (+history too!)
Great introduction to food culture of Venice Beach; and added bonus was the guide's deep knowledge of the history of the Venice Beach community. …and the food was delicious!
Definitely do again!
Great experience! Denisse did a wonderful job of sharing her love of Venice and knowledge of its food and history. The food selections were diverse, tasty and we can’t wait to try some of these places again
Great Way to see Venice, CA
Cassie was super friendly and knew all the best spots around Venice Beach. We hit some cool places on the beach and some hidden gems off it. I usually stick to vegetarian, but those meat empanadas were seriously good! The Japanese sweet potato at the end was amazing. Definitely worth it if you want to try stuff you wouldn’t find on your own. Learned a lot about the town and got to eat yummy food!
Great Food in a Great Neighborhood!
The Venice Beach food tour was a fantastic way to dive into the local food scene. The produce is really good around here so the there were several really amazing veggie dishes. There were several really delicious meat and seafood dishes as well, but the farmers market produce really stood out to me. It was really fun to visit Erewhon Market because I've seen it all over Insta and Tiktok. Penelope was a great guide and really knew a lot about the area. We also got a very comprehensive tour of the boardwalk, the canals, and the rest of the neighborhood. It was a great experience!
