Traveler reviews
A great Macquarie harbour experience- highly recommend!
The trip is 6 hours of varied quality experiences! They went out through Devils Head, then across the harbour to the beauty of the Gordon River, we stopped for a walk through the rainforest, travelled Sarah Island and had a great tour of the former Penal colony with a great guide. Dinner was a nice cold buffet. My only negative is my booking states complimentary drink, but when asked for by others who they were told no yet on there and our booking confirmation. This needs to be corrected!
Well worth doing
We done the tour on the main deck with window seats. The only downside were the massive blowflies on the boat, that's it. The cruise itself, crew and food were really good. We were lucky enough to have Kiah doing our sarah island tour and she was magnificent. Overall 10/10
Relaxing, Educational and Nourishing
Relaxing cruise along Macquarie Harbour and the Gordon River. Dinner was delicious. Our on board guide, Emily, was very informative. We learnt about the discovery of the harbour, salmon farming and huon pines. The tour of Sarah Island was fascinating, our guide Lyell was very charismatic and we learnt alot about the history of the convicts.
Highly recommend
From the moment you got on the ship, Andy on the upper deck was very friendly and attentive, helping with every request. The tour, although we had rain on and off was great. Very educational and not rushed. The food!! Oh the food! It was delicious and generous plus having brought the premium upper deck ticket, allowed you to eat as much as you could fit and drink the same. Would highly recommend 🤗
A must-do experience.
We cruised on Spirit of the Wild departing Strahan at 3.15pm. What a magnificent afternoon/evening it was. Captain Ben and his team were fantastic. Harriet and Hannah our two main hosts could not have been more friendly and informative. The information was presented on board in such a dynamic, interesting way through engaging story-telling. Sarah Island was a real highlight for our group. Thanks to our brilliant guide James who was engaging the minute we stepped onto the island. He brought that island to life with his humorous historical tales. Travelling down the Gordon River was awe-inspiring and learning in more detail about the environmental activism that took place was a real highlight for me. It was a wonderful experience and our group all walked away with a deep appreciation for this incredible part of the world.
