Gaucho day with Estancia and Areco Tour
Amazing private trip to the ranch! Picked up at hotel by fabulous guide Jose who stayed with us for the enitre day. He was a really lovely man and so knowledgeable and interesting about Argentina. He took us to the silversmith in the lovely village of San Antonio de Areco and to a fabulous local artist. We had a fun 4x4 muddy ride to the ranch and then wonderful empanadas and wine before a horseride (in the mud - wonderful!). The food at the ranch was just incredible - we think we ate at least one whole cow each! The people at the ranch were very friendly and great hosts, music and dancing were also fun and it was so interesting learning more about the gaucho way of life (and watching a horse whispering demonstration). But it was Jose who made it for us - he knew everyone personally, looked after us like family and didn't grumble once when we had to go back because husband left his glasses behind! We apologise again to Jose's wife for making him late home that day - especially when he got up so early to pick us up! One word of warning to anyone doing this trip - do put your bite spray on - it was raining in the morning and I didn't bother - but the sun came up in the afternoon - and after the rain it was humid and the midges came out to feast on English legs!!!
Fun Estancia day, Great Food
Julietta, our Guide, was very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Great hospitality shown by her and the team at the Estancia.
