Beginning at Saint Nicholas church, we’ll walk through the city’s medieval heart, hearing how Galway got its name from a tragic tale and uncovering how the Celts wove meaning into every stone, ritual, and tale. We’ll explore the ancient pagan world, where druids, bards, and wise women shaped belief and identity through sacred ceremonies and oral knowledge, wisdom that still echoes in Irish traditions today. Then, step carefully into the world of faeries and the Otherworld. These aren’t your fairy tale sprites, they’re the mysterious Aos Sí, feared and revered in equal measure. Their stories still whisper through Galway’s winding lanes.

Excellent walking tour

Candela is a fantastic guide. Great storyteller and deep knowledge in history of the area and languages. Good storyteller and the iPad visuals were a nice addition. Definitely recommend taking this tour if you are in Galway.

You should...

Go on this tour! Candela was lovely and personable. She was a fabulous storyteller. I enjoyed learning about the city of Galway while visiting so many beautiful places. I definitely feel like there is something for everyone on this tour and would recommend it for the scenery alone, though I learned a lot. Even about druids I studied in the past. Its a great way to get the layout of the city and learn the mythology. Who knows, you may even see a selkie!
