Traveler reviews
Knowledgeable guide and a great experience
The tour was arranged by Francesca who even told us what train to catch from Naples and how to get to the ruins. Our guide Maria was an historian and extremely knowledgeable. She was able to answer all our questions and the two hour tour was a great experience for us. This is a must-see venue and a guide makes the ruins come to life. I have been to Herculaneum before and I much prefer these ruins to Pompeii as Herculaneum is more intimate and one can get the sense of what life was like when this was a bustling small town. Many thanks to Francesca and Maria.
Riccardo was excellent, engaging and...

Riccardo was excellent, engaging and highly informative. Made it interesting and applicable not only for us but also our primary school aged children. Herculaneum was more enjoyable for us than Pompeii because it is much smaller, the children could better understand what life would have been like, and appreciate how the city was buried with the surrounding suburbs nearby.
