Itinerary

1

You will meet your guide, with a wealth of experience leading tours with families with children, at the main entrance of the museum, and from there you will begin your incredible journey through the history of the human race! You and your family will find yourselves in one of the world's finest museums, and your guide will make sure you are enthralled and entertained as you learn about some of history's greatest empires and most influential ancient civilisations. The museum's collection stretches across and incredible two million years of human history. The British Museum is home to the largest collection of Egyptian relics outside Egypt, so this is obviously one of the highlights of the tour. You will discover the section's awe-inspriring exhibits which shed much light on the history of Ancient Egypt. They include the Rosetta Stone, which helped historians decipher and comprehend the enigma of hieroglyphs, a 5,000-year-old sand-dried mummy, wall paintings from the tomb of Nebamun and sculptures of Ramesses II. From Ancient Egypt, you will continue your time travel as you move on to Ancient Greece and admire the breathtaking Parthenon Sculptures, classical marble statues whose creation was overseen by the Greek architect Phidias. After that, you will find yourselves in medieval England, and be captivated by the mystery of the Sutton Hoo burial treasure. These relics, discovered from the excavations of two cemeteries dating back to the early Middle Ages, have helped give historians and scholars alike much needed insight into a period of British history which had previously been a shady, grey area where it was difficult to distinguish between myth, legend and documented history. Fascinating tales, multimedia tools and a range of games and activities will be skillfully combined by your expert guide in order to give you and your family a fun, entertaining and educational tour that you will all absolutely love, and one that you won't forget in a hurry!

Great tour guide company

We had an excellent time with Danny. He was really knowledgeable and my daughters loved learning about the different cultures. We would have struggled to get through the whole museum on our own so it was good to get through the really interesting parts. Our family is originally from India so we took a look at that exhibit as well which was really special.
