Full description

Kensington Gardens holds more royal history than any first-time visitor can sort through alone. This guided walk covers the park's most significant monuments and gardens, gifts between a queen and her husband, memorials to a princess, and one of London's most storied ponds, before pre-reserved entry into Kensington Palace with an audio guide. Explore the birthplace of a queen and home to young royals for over 300 years, entirely at your own pace.

Kensington Gardens: royal history hiding in a public park

Begin near the Albert Memorial, a Gothic Revival monument Queen Victoria commissioned in memory of her husband, directly across from the Royal Albert Hall. Your guide walks you past the Diana Memorial Fountain and the Peter Pan statue, inspired by real children author J.M. Barrie met by chance in this same park. Along the way, you'll pass the Serpentine Galleries and the Long Water, watching for the wildlife that calls the park home.

The Italian Gardens & Sunken Garden: love stories in stone

Continue through the Italian Gardens, a gift from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria carved in Carrara marble and Portland stone. Your guide points out the Round Pond, dug in 1730 by George II, before leading you to the Sunken Garden. Since 2017, this has been the White Garden, planted in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, with a statue of her commissioned by her sons standing at its center.

Kensington Palace: Victoria's childhood home

Your guide brings you to the Palace entrance, then hands you an audio guide for a self-guided walk through the King's and Queen's State Apartments. Explore the birthplace of Queen Victoria and the home of young royals for more than 300 years, at whatever pace you like. Spend as long as you want inside; there's no guide waiting to move you along.
