Full description
Start your Rome day early, while the city is quieter and cooler. This early morning Rome tour meets at the Spanish steps and reaches the Trevi Fountain before the daytime crowds arrive. Then stop for breakfast and indulge in coffee and a cornetto, Italy's softer, slightly sweeter take on the croissant, before walking into the Pantheon on a timed ticket that's pre-arranged. A local guide leads this small-group tour of the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon, up to 12 guests, finishing in Piazza Navona to continue your day.
What's Rome like at a quarter to eight in the morning? On this early morning Rome tour, you'll find out at the Trevi Fountain.
You'll meet your guide at the Spanish Steps at 7:15, while the city is still quieter and cooler, and join a small group of up to 12. After a short briefing, stroll to the Trevi Fountain, where you arrive before the daytime crowds do.
Trevi Before the Crowds
Look closely at the sculptures. Two sea horses pull the sea god's shell-shaped chariot, one calm and one restless, said to stand for the sea's two moods.
A Roman Temple, Built Into a Square
A short walk leads to Piazza di Pietra, a quieter square with eleven columns from the Temple of Hadrian built into the front of a later building. The columns are nearly 1,900 years old, and Rome built around them instead of clearing them away.
Coffee and a Cornetto
Breakfast comes next: coffee and a cornetto, Italy's softer, slightly sweeter take on the croissant, at a local café a few steps from the Pantheon.
Through the Pantheon's Door
Your timed entry is already arranged, so there's no ticket to organize and no time slot to choose. Over about 45 minutes, your guide explains how a dome this wide stays up and what the building was made for. Then look up: the Pantheon has no windows, only the oculus, a round opening at the top of the dome that sends a moving circle of daylight across the walls and floor.
An Ancient Stadium, and Your Day Still Ahead
The tour ends in Piazza Navona at about 10:15. The square follows the outline of Emperor Domitian's stadium, which is why it's long, narrow, and curved at one end. Trevi, breakfast, and the Pantheon are behind you, and the rest of your day is yours.
Headsets are provided for groups of six or more, so your guide stays easy to hear in narrow streets and busy squares.

Reviews
If you’re gonna see Niagara Falls, this is the tour to do it on!
