Itinerary
Meet your private licensed guide at Dubrovnik’s historic Large Onofrio’s Fountain—introduction to the Republic of Ragusa and the strategic importance of the city walls.
Begin your walk directly from the Old Town wall access point near the fountain. Overview of the fortification system and construction history.
Pass by: Minčeta Fortress dominates the highest north-western part of the City. It is a large circular tower with a massive battlement suspended by stone sup-porters. The first, smaller, quadrangular tower was constructed by Nikifor Ranjina in 1319.
Pass by: The Bokar Fortress was considered the key point of defense of the western sea as well as a land approach to the town. The fort was designed by the Florentine architect Michelozzo di Bartolomeo Michelozzi as a semicircular two-story building.
Pass by: The Fortress of St John (Sveti Ivan) is one of this city's impressive medieval defences. The towers date back to the 14th century and the main structure is from the 16th century. Often called Mulo tower, the Fortress of St John's is another key fort in the Dubrovnik City walls defense complex.
Pass by: Revelin Fortress View Eastern defensive stronghold protecting the land entrance to the city.

Dubrovnik City Walls Tour
Kim was so informative and made the tour fascinating!! I left learning so much about the City on my first whole day. Definitely check it out!!
A comprehensive tour of Dubrovnik City Walls and history.
The tour is exclusively on top of the city walls which gives a unique perspective of the old city, the sea and everything below. Our excellent guide provided not only a thorough history of Dubrovnik and it’s famous fortress, but also what life was like then, the many invaders and wars leading up to the fall of communism and the beginning of the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991. We also learned much about contemporary life in Dubrovnik and Croatia as well. All this while walking up and down the 1,080 steps of the Walls Tour. Our guide and the experience were great. Our party of 3 highly recommend!
