Above and beyond
This will be a slightly different review - and thank you. On the last night of my three month solo travel adventure I went to an ATM to pull out a few euro. The tour bus was parked right in front of the ATM and Stephen, the bus driver, witnessed me getting robbed. He immediately came to me, checked if I was alright, escorted me onto the bus to have a safe place to be, and began taking with me and helping me look for the police. When I explained to him that the only reason I was even at the ATM was to get some euros to make change so I could bring the currency back home to my collector son, he immediately reached into his pocket and pulled out 10 euro and insisted I take it. He wanted me to know that “All blokes in Dublin aren’t arsholes.” No indeed, they are not. He helped me when we found the police and when the tour came out of the pub he informed “Edgar” (M) that I would be joining the tour for a bit. He had already worked out where I could get off that would get me closest to my motel, and that an interesting diversion would help return me to some normality. Edgar kindly agreed and I enjoyed a very funny/creepy/interesting 45 minutes of the tour before departing and walking back to my hotel. I am so incredibly grateful for their kindness - and appreciative of their skill. ♥️☘️
Spooky
Spooky fun with Edgar and Franklin on the Ghost Bus tour. We toured what was once a graveyard as well as an old church. In between, Edgar told us creepy stories about the history of Dublin. Chilling!
Not as cheesy as it might seem!
This is a lot of fun for a Friday night. Frank and Edgar took us to several sites where gruesome things happened and on the bus Edgar filled us with stories, showed torture devices and played trivia games, which were really fun. We went to two old sites from when Dublin was a walled city: one a church where a priest was tortured. It’s here that you can lay in a coffin should you choose to do so. It’s in an old cemetery, which has been turned into a lovely park. We also went to an even older place, haunted by a green woman searching. This was the site of a brothel and a church. My only disappointment was that I didn’t get to Glasnevin Cemetery, which I really wanted to see, but still, this is well worth doing!
