Downtown Vallarta Food Tour

My husband and I went on a walking food tour in Puerto Vallarta and absolutely loved it. The tacos were so yummy, and every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. Joanna was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely friendly — she felt more like a friend showing us around than a guide. Her energy made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back and will 100% book another tour with her.

Our Vallarta Downtown Food Tour was one of the absolute highlights of our family vacation. We had a large group of 12, so we booked a private experience, and it was perfect for us. Our guide, Joana, met us at our hotel and returned with us there afterward, which made the entire experience easy and stress-free. Joana was amazing—warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient with our group, which can sometimes feel like herding cats! She quickly learned everyone’s names and family relationships, making the tour feel very personal. We truly felt like VIPs at every stop. At each location, Joana explained the history and the food we were trying. She showed us how to dress each dish with the different sauces and toppings and encouraged everyone to try new things without ever making anyone feel pressured. She was also extremely attentive to a food allergy within our group, which we greatly appreciated. Paul, the owner, was wonderful to work with as well. He made booking easy for our large group and was incredibly flexible when flight delays forced us to reschedule at the last minute. The team also helped arrange a private van for all 12 of us at a better price than anything we had found on our own. And the food was truly unforgettable. The street tacos, ceviche, and birria were all amazing, and honestly, nothing has compared since. Months later, our family still talks about this tour. It gave us incredible food, wonderful memories, and a truly special experience together. We highly recommend Vallarta Food Tours, especially for families and larger groups! We hope to return one day.

What an incredible experience! This food tour was truly one of the highlights of our time in Puerto Vallarta. The value was excellent, but what made it so special was the opportunity to experience the city through the eyes of someone who genuinely loves and appreciates it. Our guide, Al, was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and incredibly organized. From the moment we met him, he made us feel comfortable and excited for the adventure ahead. He shared fascinating stories about Puerto Vallarta, introduced us to amazing local food, and helped us discover parts of the city we never would have found on our own. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had gained a deeper connection to Puerto Vallarta, not just as visitors, but as people who had been given a glimpse into its culture and community. We enjoyed the experience so much that we’ve already decided to book another tour with Al when our family joins us for Christmas later this year. We can’t wait to share this experience with them.
