Itinerary
Visit the stunning Wachirathan Waterfall, one of the crown jewels of Doi Inthanon National Park and the most impressive waterfall in the Chiang Mai region. Plunging from a remarkable height, the waterfall creates a fine mist that surrounds the area, giving it a dreamy, almost otherworldly atmosphere. The emerald waters swirl around moss-covered rocks, enhancing the natural beauty and serenity of the scene. On sunny days, a vibrant rainbow often forms in the mist, creating a perfect photo opportunity and a magical sight that delights every visitor. The powerful roar of the cascading water, the lush greenery, and the crisp mountain air make Wachirathan Waterfall a must-visit destination for nature lovers and photographers alike. Please note that the duration includes travel time from Chiang Mai to Doi Inthanon, as well as travel between the various stops within the park.
Sirithan Waterfall is a spectacular sight where the waters of the Mae Klang River cascade down a dramatic rock cliff before joining the river below. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery, with dense forests framing the rushing water, creating a serene and picturesque setting. While visitors cannot approach the base of the waterfall, it can be admired from a scenic viewpoint, allowing you to appreciate the full height and power of the cascading water as it tumbles gracefully down the cliff. This vantage point also offers excellent photo opportunities, capturing the waterfall’s natural beauty against the backdrop of the highland forests and misty mountain landscape. Total time includes traveling time from one place to the other.
Visit the King and Queen Chedis, two stunning pagodas built to honor the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit of Thailand. The King’s Chedi, known as Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon, was completed in 1987 to celebrate the King’s 60th birthday, while the Queen’s Chedi, Naphaphonphumisiri, was finished in 1992 to mark the Queen’s 60th birthday. These elegant, mirrored structures are designed in traditional Thai style but with modern architectural touches, and their gleaming surfaces reflect the sunlight beautifully, making them even more spectacular. The chedis are surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens bursting with colorful flowers and fragrant plants. The location offers breathtaking panoramic views over the misty valleys and rolling hills of Chiang Mai province. A visit to these iconic landmarks is not only a feast for the eyes but also a glimpse into Thailand’s royal heritage and devotion. Total time includes traveling time from one place to the other.
Doi Inthanon National Park, often called “the Roof of Thailand,” is a spectacular natural wonder and the country’s highest point at 2,565 meters. Renowned for its cool, refreshing climate, the park is a year-round escape for nature lovers and adventurers. The park features lush evergreen forests, moss-covered trails, and misty mountain peaks, creating a serene, magical atmosphere. Waterfalls cascade dramatically down the hillsides, perfect for relaxing, taking photos, and enjoying nature. Its rich variety of flora and fauna, including orchids, ferns, and numerous bird species, attracts wildlife enthusiasts from around the world. Whether hiking forest trails, listening to waterfalls, or admiring panoramic vistas, Doi Inthanon offers an immersive experience of Thailand’s natural beauty. The fresh air, tranquility, and stunning landscapes leave a lasting impression on all who visit. Total time includes traveling time from one place to the other.
Take a short and easy nature walk along the Ang Ka Nature Trail, a wooden platform path suitable for everyone, and discover the unique flora and forest that thrive at this high altitude in Doi Inthanon National Park. This is not a long or strenuous hike through the rainforest, but a gentle stroll where you can fully enjoy the magical surroundings. The dense, mossy, and lush forest is alive with color and life all year round, offering a peaceful and refreshing escape into nature. Along the trail, you’ll encounter a variety of authentic flora and fauna. Every step brings new sights, sounds, and scents of this remarkable highland environment, making it a wonderful opportunity for photography and simply immersing yourself in nature. The easy walk allows you to take your time, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and marvel at the beauty of Thailand’s highlands. Total time includes traveling time from one place to the other.
Visit the Karen village Baan Mae Klang Luang, named after the Mae Klang river. Nestled in the stunning mountainous setting of Doi Inthanon, this village is surrounded by brilliant green forests, lush rice terraces and verdant coffee fields. In Mae Klang Luang, opium cultivation was the main source of income not too long ago. The Thai government has fought against opium farming among the hill tribes of Northern Thailand for decades, and nowadays the local population earns most of their income from farming, supplemented by tourism. Baan Mae Klang Luang is well known for its coffee crop. Of course you are welcome to sample the locally grown and freshly roasted coffee. Please note that the duration includes travel time between the various stops within the park, and also from Doi Inthanon National Park back to Chiang Mai.

We had a good day with...
We had a good day with Tik at the National Park. Eventually it was a private trip, due to low season only for the two of us. We took our time to visit the summit and the pagodas and the guide provided all the necessary information. Heavy rain in the afternoon required careful driving back but everything went well. All in all it was a good day.
Super Day, highly recommended.
