Itinerary
We depart Ho Chi Chi Minh City in the morning to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, known for its role in the anti-American resistance during the Vietnam War and now seen as a symbol of heroism. With over 220 km of underground tunnels, it's a popular tourist attraction for both Vietnamese and foreign visitors. The scenic route from Ho Chi Minh City to Cu Chi passes through the local countryside, offering sights such as ducks and buffalo along the river. Despite its tranquil appearance today, it's hard to imagine the destruction caused by bombing and mines in the past, when Cu Chi was designated as a "free target zone."
After investigating the tunnels, we'll head to My Tho, a province in the Mekong Delta region. We'll embark on a boat ride along the upper Mekong and witness the Four Animal Islands named after creatures in Buddhist lore: Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Turtle. On this portion of the tour, you'll get a glimpse of local Vietnamese life and how it is tied to the river. Later, we'll take you on a rowboat excursion through the narrow waterways, showcasing the fertile agriculture of the delta with its fruit orchards, coconut plantations, and beekeeping farms. During the tour, you'll have the opportunity to taste honey tea, seasonal fruits, fresh coconut candy, and enjoy southern Vietnamese folk music. Finally, we'll return to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you off at your hotel around 6:30 PM.

Traveler reviews
Many activities, relaxing schedule
The experience was great with many activities packed in a comfortable schedule. A lot of time was spent on the road, but fortunately the bus was comfy with individual reclining seats. Our guide Kevin was knowledgeable and funny! Thanks for pulling me out of the hole 😄He gave a sombre but solid introduction to the resistance war, which provided a good context for the cu chi tunnels. One thing that felt slightly distasteful was when the music performers put a tip basket on our table at the end of the performance, which felt pressurising at the moment.
very interesting and...
very interesting and complete tour, in a day we visited a lot of places and could face the typical life of the country The guide is amazing, all the time very cooperative and fun!
Fun trip, worth it.
Matthew is a great guide. The first part was about what the Vietnamese people went through with the war and Matthew gave us a mini history lesson on our way there. The group of people we were with also had their own side of the story which made the lunch conversations even more interesting. The second part of the trip was seeing life on the Meekong river and we had some durian there. Overall, the tour was well balanced.
Cu Chi tunnel and Mekong Delta tour
We had Emily as a guide. On the whole a Favreau day and Emily's English was great. She shared a lot of information and was a fun guide for us. Lots off food and snacks provided during the trip. I would definitely recommend the tour. It was around NZ$55 per person we thought it was great value for a while day out.
The guide was very knowledgeable and polite . He was patient and always aware of safety for all tourists
That’s a real historic site that recreates the horror of war The Mekong delta was very entertaining and relaxing.
