Join us for one of Darwin’s most thrilling and iconic experiences with the ½ Day Jumping Croc Cruise on the Adelaide River. Departing from the heart of Darwin, we travel approximately 60 km southeast towards the Marrakai wetlands, a region rich in wildlife and home to some of Australia’s most awe-inspiring creatures. The wetlands are not only the domain of the apex predator, the crocodile, but also boast 117 species of reptiles and 280 different bird species, creating an incredibly diverse environment.
This exhilarating and unique adventure offers the chance to get up close to one of nature’s most powerful animals, the saltwater crocodile. Operated by one of only four licensed operators in the region, the tour allows you to observe these formidable predators in their natural habitat. As the boat glides along the river’s waterways, you’ll witness the jaw-dropping sight of crocodiles launching themselves from the water with immense power to snatch food from the boat.
Guided by a team of experienced locals, you’ll learn about the crocodiles’ behaviors, habitats, and survival strategies. Their in-depth knowledge ensures a safe and educational experience, giving you insights into the lives of these apex predators. With safety as a priority, you’ll enjoy the experience in comfort aboard a custom-built vessel designed to bring you as close as possible to these incredible creatures.
In addition to crocodiles, the region is home to a variety of other wildlife. You’ll spot barramundi swimming beneath the surface, white-bellied sea eagles and whistling kites soaring above, bull sharks patrolling the waters, and black flying foxes flitting through the trees. The variety of wildlife in this area offers a captivating and immersive nature experience.
On the return journey to Darwin, we’ll make a short stop at the legendary Humpty Doo Hotel, one of the Northern Territory’s most iconic pubs. Known for its friendly atmosphere, rich history, and outback charm, the hotel is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Take a moment to enjoy a cold drink at the bar, admire the famous giant buffalo horns, and soak in the character of this true-blue Aussie institution that famously withstood Cyclone Tracy.
After this classic Territory experience, we’ll continue back to Darwin, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, reflecting on the unforgettable wildlife encounters and outback charm of the day.
