Full description

Connemara is a district in western Ireland, facing the Atlantic. Its coastline has tiny coves, bays and fishing villages. Wide open spaces, towering mountains and beautiful beaches, Connemara is one of Ireland's most stunning spots. Connemara National Park is a vast expanse of mountains, bogs, heathland and lakes. The park is also home to a herd of Connemara ponies. The area’s main town, Clifden, has several venues for traditional Irish music. Here, too, are the ruins of Gothic Revival–style Clifden Castle. Great tour guide with a perfect mix of stops

Jarleth, our guide, was wonderful. It was like driving with an old family friend who’d been living in Western Ireland his entire life. You never quite know what you’ll get with a private tour guide and we were not disappointed. He drove us from spot to spot sharing not only historical information, but personalizing it by showing us things about his own life. The Abbey was beautiful (albeit the midges had arrived!!). We hiked a short loop around Connemara which had extraordinary views into the valley and beyond. Lunch in Clifden was perfect and we were so hungry by then… and the we were off to Sky road which was magical. We finished up with a stop at our last castle and on time, exhausted but having had another wonderful day seeing sights and learning all about Ireland’s incredible history. Highly recommend.
