It is now home to the Benedictine Nuns, and here you can enjoy their excellent home cooking while visiting the Abbey and the restored walled gardens. The grounds and surrounding mountains and lakes are steeped in rich Irish history, and you can learn all about this on our Connemara & Cong Tour. The Abbey and estate are open all year round and include the Abbey, a Gothic Church, the walled gardens, a craft shop, pottery studio, restaurant and tea rooms, as well as the lake and woodland walks.

Killary Harbour is Ireland’s only true fjord and extends 16km (10 miles) in from the Atlantic .It's extremely deep, over 45m at its centre. This offers a very safe, sheltered anchorage, because of the depth and the mountains to the south and north. It is a centre for shellfish farming, and strings of ropes used to grow mussels are visible for much of its length.

Amazing Connemara, Cong & Kylemore Abbey Tour from Galway

Again today we went on a tour, this time Connemara, Cong & Kylemore Abbey Tour from Galway with Mike the bus driver. It was soooo amazing. Mike is really funny, and soo nice. I have never taken so many photos on one day before, my god it was soo beautiful. It have been the best thing that we have done here in Ireland, that is both tours. I would not have been without. So do not hesitate to book yourself a tour.and the fact that they pick you up and drive you back to the hotel is priceless. Tank you.

not only Kylemore that matters

Well designed tour, places really worth visit, not only Kylemore Abbey, smaller group - ca. 35 people convenient pick up point, but at the end of the tour it turned our that the operator drops you off in Galway, and not at the pick up point. Very disappointing! because there was no clear information about it

Be careful

It’s a somewhat enjoyable ride though the countryside but not very interesting.and the two stops are needlessly long. Our driver urged me to accept coupons to tour Kylemore Abbey which I didn’t intend to do (and didn’t) but when I return to the tour bus and try to give them back to him, he said he had paid for them and there were no refunds. The cost was €40 but I limited my payment to €20. However, the mistake was his and I should not have had to pay anything. .
