Full description
Your tour starts with a brief explanation about the Houses of Parliament and a view of Big Ben from Parliament Square. You'll guide will give you a crash course in British royal history before you head to the Mall to witness one of its famed traditions, the Changing of the Guard.
As you watch the guards preparing for their march, your guide will explain what their duties of protecting the Palace include and significance of their elaborate uniforms. As the ceremony gets underway, you'll march right alongside the guards and stop at a special vantage point away from the crowds. You'll also watch the Horse Guard coming up the street, featuring armor-clad soldiers on horses.
Your tour of continues at Westminster Abbey, where you'll breeze past the long lines outside and head straight inside. As you explore, your certified guide will regale you with stories of the Abbey’s most famous attractions, such as the famous Coronation Chair, the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, the Nave, the Quire, and the High Altar, which has been the focal point of many royal weddings. (William and Kate, the current Prince and Princess of Wales, were the 16th royal couple to get married there.) The Abbey is also famous for housing the final resting places of some of England’s most significant historical figures, so we’ll of course pause at a few. With so much to discover, your guide makes sure you see both the highlights and the hidden gems.
Please Note: During inclement weather conditions, it is the decision of the Palace as to whether the Guard Change takes place or is cancelled. We will only know this on the day of the visit. If the Changing of the Guard is cancelled last minute by the Palace due to bad weather, guests will see the King's Life Guard Change, Horse Guards Parade.
Please also note that access to the panoramic viewpoint may be limited due to local events.
