Itinerary
Meet your archeologist guide outside the Colosseum and enjoy a short introduction of the area before accessing the world's most visited attraction. Get ready to travel back in time to the days of the Roman Empire and to be amazed by the history of its most iconic monument.
Once inside, marvel at this mighty wonder of ancient engineering. Learn about the innovative techniques used to build it and discover the political and social reasons that led to its construction. Enjoy a stunning view of the Gladiator's Arena and hear about the bloody games that took place in it. After your official tour ends you can either use your tickets to visit the archeological area of the Roman Forums and Palatine Hill on your own or with a guided tour (choose the option you prefer during your booking).
OPTIONALLY, you can join the guide to head towards the archeological area of the Roman Forums and Palatine Hill in another 1-hour guided tour. Choose this option during your booking. Here, you will immerse yourself in the ruins of ancient temples and will walk the paths of Emperors and Senators. Learn how this beautiful area became the beating heart of Ancient Rome. Hear about the Vestal Virgins and see their gardens and the pagan temple of the Goddess Vesta they served. Learn about the Basilica Julia and the penal system of Ancient Rome and its effects on Christianity. See the temple of Castor and Pollux and the Arch of Titus and learn about the sacking of Jerusalem. Discover the Senate House, where senators met to decide the fate of the Roman Republic and how that climaxed with the murder and cremation of Julius Caesar.
Walk the paths of the Roman Emperors while visiting the hill where the legend of Romulus and Remus places the foundation of the city: the Palatine Hill. Learn how it later became one of the most exclusive areas of Ancient Rome and enjoy breathtaking views over the Colosseum and Roman Forum. From the heights of the Palatine Hill, enjoy a bird's eye view over what is considered to have been the largest structure for public games ever built by mankind, the Circus Maximus.

Traveler reviews
Fantastic tour
Excellent tour guide. We learned a lot and enjoyed our day immensely. Well organized event and easy meet up and walk.
Great experience!
The right guide makes all the difference in your tour experience. Rosy was great, very enthusiastic. Knew her history and made learning about the Colosseum exciting! Well worth the money!
Fantastic guided tour with skilled guide
Knowledgeful and nice guide. She spoke good English and it went fine to hear what she said, through the headset. Bring your own headset with sound to both ears for an even better experience.
Excellent experience
Rosy is an outstanding guide, passionate, super-knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Colosseum (11/04) she brought the history to life in such an engaging way. I highly recommend this tour !
10/10 Would do it again! Best way to see the Coliseum and Forum!
We booked last minute after we saw the line waiting to buy tickets, 100% worth it. Our guide was an archeologist with a Dad joke sense of humor and incredible knowledge of the Coliseum, Forum and surrounding area. It was well worth the price to get the narration / information as we walked around, plus the Forum is so massive, we would not have known where to start. Having a guide also helps with getting through lines and avoiding some of the ‘pressure’ guards tend to put on other visitors. Highly recommend! 10/10 would do it again!
