Important information
Know before you book
- The hike involves moderate physical activity; ensure you're in good health and prepared for a day of walking.
- Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for the conditions on the day of the hike.
- Be aware that the tour operates in all weather conditions; cancellations due to weather are rare.
Know before you go
- Wear comfortable hiking shoes suitable for uneven terrain.
- Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the hike.
- Consider wearing a hat and sunscreen to protect against sun exposure.
Cancellation policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
Good to know
- Consider that the maximum height during the trekking is 1000 ft and the climb is very steep
- We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes for walking
- The order of visits may change
- We recommend you bring water, sunscreen, and a cap
- Keep in mind that the trails to hike are hard but not impossible. Since the beauty of the area lies in its nature, you won’t find handrails or safety rails even when the steps formed by the rocks of the mountain are inclined or when the path is near to the edge of the cliff. For the above mentioned reasons, this tour is not suitable for kids under 8 years old
- In case the original itinerary cannot be carried out due to major causes such as weather and/or road conditions, CiaoFlorence can modify the itinerary with alternative solutions by train
Traveler reviews
Absolutely beautiful. ...
Absolutely beautiful. The hike is very rewarding and somewhat challenging, especially in the heatwave this summer. Bring lots of water! This is the best way to experience the the towns. Would have preferred a few more quick mini stops along the way to soak in the scenery.
Train tour instead!
In theory, you could do this tour yourself by buying the train tickets. Nevertheless, our guide Martina was very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. She gave us tidbits of history and recommendations for what to do and which places to try at each little village before letting us explore on our own. We were supposed to the hiking tour but the weather and the group was too small. I’m glad we got to do this instead!
Highly recommend
This was one of the best parts of our 8 day vacation. It was breathtaking. The views were amazing, and the tour guide was INCREDIBLE. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We had one other family in our group and she was flexible with the schedule based on what we wanted to do. It was a tough hike, so wear good shoes! Would recommend this if you're active and want to explore Cinque Terre on a time crunch (we did this as a shore excursion from our cruise).
Hike swotch to Train Tour Turns out ok
Actually, route had a hiking tour canceled because they said the guy was sick but we suspect that the origin of people who signed up. Actually turned out just fine because they asked if they could switch us to the Limoncini tour that visited three out of the five villages in the Cinque Terre. Because if the switch we had to return earlier than the rest of our group, and they arranged for us to meet up with another target that actually was on our ship. All in all, we found the guides to be helpful, knowledgeable, and very resilient. We are Visited Riomaggiore, Monterosso in Vernazza. The one thing we would suggest is that if you have difficulty walking a mile, this is not the tour for you as you walk about 30 minutes from where the shuttle in the port dropped you off to the train station and there is still quite a bit of walking on the tour. This is perfect for us, but we noticed others who are older, not quite as fit, struggling a bit.
It was very good but group was too large!
We originally booked the hiking tour, but it was cancelled and we were offered this tour. The group was too large, 24 people. Largest she had ever had! It impacted the train and reduced the allotted time in each village. Some of the people were very slow walkers and group was combined with Spanish and English. The tour guide was excellent though, informative, knowledgeable, patient and managed to speak to the group in both languages. This often delayed the group in free time as we had to wait for the talking points of interest to be completed before exploring. We had less than 30 mins in the first village as we arrived too late due to waiting on group to arrive. Overall, I would recommend but these villages are extremely busy with tourists and it would be best to have a few days to explore them.
