Chincoteague Island Party Pontoon Rental

Booked the only boat that could hold my family of 7 adults and 6 children ages 5 to 7. This was the cornerstone of our Chincoteague family vacation. I had to get a VA temporary license to captain the boat. Shortly after leaving marina and getting into the channel with swift currents determined boat would not get up on plane. Looked at outboard and noticed no water so thinking a water pump issue. Engine overheated in the channel so turned boat around and then it shutdown. Called Sea Rocket and reported incident and advised I was heading back. Had to limp back to marina barely making it with my wife, 3 sons, their wives and 6 grandchildren. We surmised from body language and whispers that the boat had mechanical issues and had not be thoroughly tested before sending us on our way. This is no way to treat your customers let alone sending 6 young children out on an unsafe boat. I've been boating on the Chesapeake for many years and my experience prevented this endeavor from becoming a potential emergency. What was going to be a wonderful 4 hours experience quickly turned into unnecessary stress and disappointment.
