Dalcahue is the most important place in terms of craftsmanship and industrial and nautical development, and also for its huilliche influence. It has an active market located less than 20 kilometers from Castro and a beautiful architecture that stands out, its church, declared a World Heritage Site and built in part by Jesuit missionaries in the 18th century.
Visit the largest city on the Island of Chiloé. Meet the famous stilt houses, craft markets and the San Francisco church that was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Stroll through the town and stop at the crafts market featuring wood and woolen products from the region
After visiting Chiloe`s capital, Castro, you will return to Puerto Varas driving along the eastern coastal road passing by several small fishing villages.

Traveler reviews
Waste of a day
Did this trip in February. To sum it up it consists of 11 hours in a minivan to visit three churches in Chiloe, none of them is interesting unless you are an academic interested in the technical details of wooden church building in the mid 19th century. However good the guides are (and our guide was excellent) this piece of Chile is not worth visiting. The drive to Castro in Chiloe island comprises a 70km motorway run to a ferry and then more than two hours driving along a scruffy, semi industrialised road with no redeeming features to Castro. On arrival the only logical question is "why bother". There are so many beautiful places in Chile I would suggest that people give this excursion a swerve and prevent the total waste of a day of their lives.
A great day visiting Chiloe
We had a wonderful time with our guide, and driver. We learned a lot about the area, had a nice lunch at a local market and saw the Palafitos and beautiful churches.
Not great
I was told that there would be a maximum of 12 persons on the tour. There was more like 30 persons in a large bus. They didn’t know that my lunch was included, which caused much confusion
