Charleston Back Alley History Tour

Our guide Bruce who is a 7th generation Charlestonian provided wonderful insight on Charleston’s history during our back alley history tour. His knowledge and stories were interesting and entertaining.

My Least Favorite Tour So Far

Our tour guide started by saying that when he talks about the Civil War he doesn't favor one side or the other. Then proudly explained in detail how his family printed the Articles of Secession and demonstrated a clear bias against Sherman throughout the tour. Besides that the tour wasn't very engaging and was a lot of standing in the sun. We went on a different tour the day after this one and it was 100× better.

Duggar's Alleyways Tour is Top Notch

Duggar Baucom was our guide on the "historic alleyways and historic sites" walking tour by Lowcountry Walking Tours. Duggar is a terrific guide, telling us about fascinating sites with a personal touch. His knowledge of Charleston is exceptional. His ability to communicate with each member of the group is top of the line. Interestingly, as we would come to several sites, he would be greeted by the owners who themselves might tell a story. We highly recommend this tour with Duggar and are confident the experience will be one of the highlights of your trip.

Get off the beaten path and enjoy the history that’s tucked away!

An absolutely delightful tour if you enjoy getting off the beaten path and hearing about the history of Charleston! Our guide, Bruce, is a seventh generation Charlestonian and was so knowledgeable in regard to history and the current development of downtown. We enjoyed some beautiful gardens, history of some beautiful homes and so much local knowledge. He made the tour priceless for us. The pace was relaxed and the experience was excellent. This is definitely a personal spin with detailed history.
