Wander at your own pace among the well-preserved columns, a testament to the power and influence of the ancient Athenians.
The Temple of Poseidon, built in the 5th century BC, stands majestically on the cliffs of Cape Sounion overlooking the Aegean Sea. Dedicated to Poseidon, god of the sea, this ancient Doric temple once guided sailors safely home and remains a symbol of Athens' maritime power and devotion to the gods. Its impressive columns and dramatic setting make it one of Greece’s most iconic archaeological sites.

Beautiful ride up to...
Beautiful ride up to Temple of Poseidon. Our guide Kat gave us interesting information on the ride up. The cost to go up to the temple was expensive for what it was but still interesting to see the temple and the views.
Bus tour was very good,...
Bus tour was very good, but disappointing that you're not allowed to walk through the temple of Poseidon after paying 20 euros per person.
Great site but long trip there and back
Kat was a great tour guide! Just be advised that you’re spending 3+ hours total in a bus (with amazing scenery) for 1 hr at a small site.
Beautiful view during the bus ride
Pleasant bus ride with a very beautiful view. At the destination, unfortunately, there was not much to see except for the temple, for which an entrance fee was required if one wanted to visit it up close. We had only one stop instead of two as announced. Otherwise, everything was fine.
Sunset at Poseidon Temple
The travel there was good but the time to enjoy the sunset is too short. Arrived 6.30pm Sundown was 8.38pm and we had to be back in the car park for 8.45pm. 7 minutes to get from top of hill is insufficient if you want the sunset.
