The Calgary Stampede Rodeo is a high-stakes showdown held annually at the iconic GMC Stadium, an open-air venue in Stampede Park seating over 17,000 fans. Since its inception in 1912, the event has evolved into a global phenomenon deeply rooted in Western heritage and a proud partnership with the Treaty 7 First Nations.
Spectators can expect an electric atmosphere, with daily afternoon performances being divided between adrenaline-fuelled "Roughstock" events like Bull Riding and Saddle Bronc, and precision-based "Timed" events such as Barrel Racing and Steer Wrestling, all leading toward a dramatic $2 million "Showdown Sunday."
While the rodeo serves as the heartbeat of the afternoon, the venue transitions into the legendary Rangeland Derby chuckwagon races and a massive musical grandstand show as evening falls.
