Traveler reviews
Chaotic, without trip to Jerez excursion would have been better
Excursion was pretty chaotic. I think the main problem is that in Jerez there are too many different activities offered, thus all tourists go to differrent activities, get separated and it becomes difficult to meet at the right time at the right place. The guide told us we have half an hour in Jerez to go to toilet and to drink coffee - actually it was too little time considering the walking distance to the coffee shops, queues at the toilets and service time at the coffee shop. As a result, some other tourists and I got back 10 min late and were left without wine tasting experience. We even thought the bus left us and had to call to the agency as we found nobody in the meeting place! I spoke to some other people in the group and they also said it was too little time for toilet and coffee. A lady who did both wine tasting and horse show said that wine tasting felt very rushed due to time constraints and she barely had time even to go to the toilet before the horse show! She was late to the horse show. Then in Cadiz which is an amazing city we had too little time, I felt like additional hour or two for exploring this port city would have been nice. My recommendation is to organise this excursion only to Cadiz, without Jerez at all. Then it would be less chaotic and people could properly explore Cadiz.
Great day!
This was a FULL day of travel and learning. Carmela was the BEST! She easily switched between Spanish and English and I always thought she was thorough and al mismo with descriptions. She as firm but kind with group and kept us on time. I appreciate that she told the truth about the history of Spain, not glossing over the way Spain conquered and took from other part of the world, but also showing how they are continuing to do good in the world with care of the environment and historical preservation. Her perspective included the experiences of women. I would have liked her to say more about flamenco and to sing more. The visit to the sherry facility was fascinating. We don't much about sherry in US, but I will start a new trend with my enthusiasm! Both Cadiz and Jerez have so much history and the towns are super clean with lots of things to see and do.
Carlos the Terrible
A guide named Carlos Gonzales, from the Basque Territory conducted our bus tour, employed by @ Naturanda. We two were not added to the Tour by Viator/Naturanda, despite booking a week prior and were given a start time one hour prior to actual time. Carlos was a disaster. 95% of customers spoke English, Carlos did not. Nobody understood him at any point. Carlos added in a beach visit in Cadiz which nobody wanted and was not on plan. Resulting in us spending 1 hour sitting on a pavement in Cadiz waiting for a bus. We could have seen the mosque in that time. We missed exploring Cadiz as Carlos did not explain arrangements clearly. Carlos swore at people who asked individual questions because he could not make himself understood in English in his announcements on bus microphone. He was repetitive and incoherent, unprofessional and rude. This man does not speak English and sounds as if he learned English words from cartoons. He is not suited to the work. I have emailed Naturanda Seville several times with no response. Tour booked via Viator which is owned by TripAdvisor.
Not Recommended
You spend your day waiting. Naturanda started the tour 40 minutes late with no acknowledgement. The sherry tour and tasting is the only part worth doing. The rest is spent waiting. If you don't elect the horse show you wait on the bus for the ones who did elect the horse show. You have time for lunch in Cadiz and a walk to the beach. That's it. And you can't hear the guide. Carlos had lots of information but you can't hear him at all. Waste of time. This was our 2nd Viator tour and the 2nd with Naturanada and this one was equally as disappointing as the first. I do not recommend this company.
Light on information, sherry tasting and free time in Cadiz was great
There is very little information or history provided. In Jerez the sherry tasting was fi and informative but nothing about the city of Jerez or its historical significance. The guided tour in Cadiz was less than 30 minutes.
