Traveler reviews
A once in a lifetime experience
From the moment you arrive, this place feels truly magical. The staff are warm, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable, making you feel like a welcome guest rather than just a visitor. What sets this experience apart is the freedom to explore at your own pace—wandering through the grounds and forming genuine connections with the animals along the way. The diversity of wildlife is astonishing, and the on-site animal hospital, open for guests to observe, offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at conservation in action. Seeing a live Tasmanian devil up close was unforgettable, but the absolute highlight was hand-feeding the kangaroos—gentle, curious, and completely enchanting. This isn’t just a visit; it’s an immersive, once-in-a-lifetime experience that will stay with you long after you leave. A must-see for anyone who truly loves animals.
Tour at Bonorong, support the cause.
Shaun, our driver/guide was really helpful and respectful. I found out that Richmond has quite a history and learned a lot about Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, they are doing great!
Half a day trip - but...
Half a day trip - but well worth the time spent. Specially, if you're animal and nature lover. Also, the historical Richmond visit is an added bonus.
Great experience
Our guide was informative and pleasant! He even made sure we got to see the animals we wanted.
Day in Hobart
Richmond is a very nice, small town. We found nice souvenirs in the gift shop at the Goal (old jail) without actually going through the jail. Small area across street has nice coffee shop, wine shop, etc. The wildlife sanctuary is nice, only issue was too crowded on our tour do to cruise ship and holiday.
