Itinerary
Pass by: Piazza Vecchia is one of the most important places of Bergamo, located in Upper Bergamo. This square was the political center of the city for many centuries and hosts a very ancient fountain “Fontana Contarini” built in 1780. A gem!
Pass by: The Campanone of Bergamo, built between the eleventh and twelfth centuries, is the largest in Lombardy. Maybe you can return, after the tour, to admire the most beautiful view of all the city!
Pass by: The church of Santa Maria Maggiore was built in Upper Bergamo in the seventeenth century. According to tradition, this basilica was built so that the Madonna would protect the people of Bergamo from the plague.
Pass by: The Antico Lavatoio is a long tub in white marble built in 1891, which where the people used to wash clothes and everything there was to wash.
Pass by: This fortified structure was built at the most central point of the city to defend against enemy attack and any popular uprisings. Today, the Cittadella is a characteristic of the upper city and preserves all the charm of its past.

Bergamo Alta , because height is really beauty !!!!!🤩❤️
We were recently a weekend in Bergamo Alta and we were in love! We stayed in a residence near Bergamo Alta (Accademia) and from there we were able to visit the walls (how beautiful green!) and old square with the wonderful Basilica and climbed the Campanone. A wonderful landscape of Bergamo from up there! We then visited the Palazzo del Podestà with an interactive exhibition. We had dinner at the renowned Circolino and Mimi’.., casoncelli and rabbit excellent! The following day we visited the Castle of Grumello and tasted an excellent wine produced on site! We were lucky because on Sunday there was the gathering of cars and historic motorcycles 🚗 in short, a city that impressed us for the history, the greenery, the hospitality of its citizens and the great food 😁 dear Bergamo , see you soon !!!!🌺
